"Open Source" projects are a popular, modern way to create software and the .org is often used for the community and developers to "cooperate for mutual benefit". They create something useful and give it away for free.

Yes it's possible to have a serious discussion about life insurance for sock puppets. However, they MAY BE a transitory phenomena, so how can we grab ahold of them in order to force them to exist, so that we can then determine if they exist and then don't exist?

The answer is our friend and ally, the blockchain.

If a sock puppet is block chained, with keys to its identity duly recorded and a link to each post recorded, then life exists. The absence of life can be similarly documented.

However, life insurance would operate differently for sock puppets than real people, because the Sock would buy it upon his creation, and then upon his demise, those who interacted with Sock would be paid off.

The creator of Sock buys the life insurance, and those real humans abused by Sock get the payouts.

So far so good. But what about the occasional Zombie Sock? One that arises from the Dead Socks years later?

The concept that no one makes money from open source projects is why so many of them fail. Also people just magically expect these people to work and make updates endlessly for these platforms forever for nothing...

Open source projects can be great but it is no secret sauce, unless people support it actively and financially.
