Hi BTC Lovers,

Please DO NOT trust me! 

.. but I wish to start a game that doubles your bet with a 50/50 chance  So let's start small & if it turns out OK, I'll create a proper site for it once I've established trust within the forum & have a sizeable pot. Here we go!

Steps to Participate:

• Reply this thread with your bet in this format: BTC0.001 LOW or BTC0.001 HIGH
• Send your bet amount to 1NZqVuzVkUGUk6wcdnk7QX8ZwRK93WzART (The 50/50 Game Pot)
• Copy your Transaction ID ("TID")
• Quote your bet post earlier & reply with your TID
• I will manually make confirmations & do a simple calculation on the first 8 characters of the TID based on the calculation rules below
• If you bet BTC0.001 HIGH & calculation result > 60, you win & I will send BTC0.002 either from Pot or Reserve
• If you bet BTC0.001 LOW & calculation result > 60, you lose & get nothing

The Rules

• The 50/50 Game Reserve: ~ BTC0.014 (as of 13/04/14)
• Minimum Bet: BTC0.001
• Maximum Bet: BTC0.002 (will increase when Reserve increases)
• Editted bet post are not accepted. If you wish to change a bet, delete original post & make a new bet post
• Bets will be verified against transaction's timestamp & confirmation
• Ensure that the timestamp for your bet post in BT is before transaction's timestamp
• Give me at least 24-48 hours for verification & payout (will give notice in thread if otherwise)
• No Refunds

TID Result Calculation

• TID's 1st 8 characters lowest possible result: 00000000
• TID's 1st 8 characters highest possible Result: FFFFFFFF
• Convert TID's 1st 8 characters as per table above & calculate the total sum from each value
• Minimum Calculation Result: 0
• Maximum Calculation Result: 120
• Low Bid Result: 0 - 60
• High Bid Result: 61 - 120

Calculation Example

• TID Result: D7A50CBF
• TID Conversion: (13)D 7 (10)A 5 0 (12)C (11)B (15)F
• TID Calculate: 13+7+10+5+0+12+11+15
• TID Calculation Result (Bet Result): 73
• Win if bet HIGH, Lose if bet LOW

Funds Allocation

• Winning bets are DOUBLED (e.g. Bet BTC0.001, Get BTC0.002)
• Winnings are given from the Pot or Reserve
• Lossing bets will split 50/50 (i.e. 50% Pot, 50% Reserve)
• The 50/50 Game Pot is public -- used for the game's continuation & growth
• The 50/50 Game Reserve is private -- my personal gains or used for payout if Pot has BTC0

Since I am not able to be in front of the screen constantly, I'm giving myself that much time to check the thread, verify bets & make payouts. I do apologies if its too long.

My long term goal, is to have a proper site with the same rules with a semi-auto or auto-payout feature. So while I'm learning to understand and create the daemon/program for the site, I thought why not get the game started in BT first

Its a possibility. Thanks for the idea  but instead of using the 1st 8 character, the rule would be to use the 1st 16th character of ID to increase the difficulity.

True, but in order to have a "valid" bet you would need to have an uneditted post bet in this thread before executing the Tx

Guess you misunderstood my point.

Say I make a reply "High", and I will create a tx to your address.
Before broadcasting the tx, I will check if I will win with it.
If not, I will create another tx with another input so that it will have a different tx id, and check if I will win; and so on.

So there are only 2 possible outcomes IMHO:

1. You run with all the money, and all bettors lose their money.
2. All (or at least most) of the bettors win their bets, and you lose your money.

Need to come up with another provably fair method of doing this than.

You may want to take a look how other on-chain gambling sites (such as SatoshiDice or luckyb.it) works.
