I am very new to this. My blockchain.com account says my money is non-spendable. I understand I need a private key and blockchain says it is generated when an account is opened. But how do I see this private key, where it is, how is it used?  I have the backup phrase which I have used to backup the wallet but that does nothing for my non-spendable status. HELP!!

Log in to your blockchain.info account and click on the 'Security Center' on the bottom-left of the page. You should be able to backup your recovery phrase there. Download Electrum and follow this guide in order to import your wallet. Please note that importing a wallet is not the same as sweeping. If you want your funds to be completely safe then create a new wallet, write down your seed properly and send your funds from the imported wallet to the new one.

How long has it been since you received those coins? Aren't they just unconfirmed? You might be forced to wait 6 confirmations before you will be able to spend them.

If you dont have your private key you cant spend or send your bitcoins from that address. Try the steps below:

Quote
Login to your wallet on Blockchain.com
Click 'Import/Export' link in the second header
Click 'I Understand' to the advanced warning
On the left side menu click 'Export unencrypted'
Enter your secondary password
Select the 'Private Key Format' of 'Bitcoin-QT Format'
In the window underneath you will see a bunch of json formatted text (text enclosed in {} braces).
Search for the last few lines that look like "addr":"1Pd3","priv":"........"
Your private key will be the shown after the "priv" and will start with either the number 5 or the letter K
https://github.com/OmniLayer/omniwallet/wiki/Exporting-Private-Key-from-Blockchain.info-and-Importing-to-Omniwallet.org

If you have your recovery phrase you can also try to restore it into a new wallet here:
https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password

Here is an link where a user had a similar problem a few months ago and the suggestion to restore your wallet is discussed there as well by nc50lc.

When did you create this wallet? If your wallet was created years ago and it still on legacy wallet you need to use your backup phrase to make a new wallet.
Use this link https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password

If your wallet just created recently use this link https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover

It will create a new wallet again and I think this time you are able to spend your bitcoin again and it will not ask again for a private key.

Also, I suggest you transfer your bitcoin then switch on electrum wallet which is much safer than using blockchain wallet.

Does non spendable just mean is hasn’t confirmed?

Can you send us the address, should begin with a 1 or 3 and we can see if that’s the case.

Are you sure you imported the wallet correctly with its private key to your blockchain wallet? From this link[1], it seems Non-Spendable could mean that you only imported/have watch-only wallet where you can view the balance but can't spend the money.

If that's the case, you need to import the private key. I think you import a different address that doesn't have any connection to your address where your money is, which is why even if you import it your money is still 'non-spendable'.

Private key is something like this (depends on the format):
Code:
5abcdebehegtfdmCQEmNaxAuMacCTfXuw1R3FxxxxxxRasdaw32

No. In blockchain.com wallet"non-spendable " means that he imported just the public keys of that address.

Blockchain.com allows you to track addresses balances using just public keys , and call those addresses non-spendable.

He probably doesn't have the privatekeys, unfortunately. Or if he has he didn't imported it into the blockchain.com wallet.

You are right that the OP may be a victim of a scam where the attacker gets the victim to add his addresses as watch-only to a bc.i wallet. However addresses are not public keys. Please use the correct terms or we get questions like these.

Typical scam on where most newbies do fall out. Someones offering you on your blockchain wallet with balance but those funds are totally unspendable and the victim will sent out some
cash just for that balance and since OP didnt answer nor visit again this page theres still no clarification but most likely these cases are common.
