SKY's multi-layered technology has started its work in 2012. Its original goal was to address Bitcoin's limitations, as well as introduce the UXT model, CoinJoin protocol, and price caps.

Skycoin is a complex, long-term project, so it is very useful to split the development of SKY into three main stages.

Stage 1: Starts in 2012 and is primarily a research and testing phase that addresses the original SKY platform's technical boundaries.
Phase 2: Starts in early 2017 and will focus on building an active community and kicking off the Skycoin economy through a rich ecosystem of applications and services that address some of the issues. in the real world.

SKY consists of six major components

Aether: A cloning protocol that stores important data
CXO: is the immutable object system (the object is copied over Ethereum)
Skywire: The network standard defined by SKY. In that case, the meshnet is the subset or the operating mode.
BlockDb: is a storage and copy system
CX: A complete application language
Skycoin: A secure, anonymous and fast token transaction token

I am also into skycoin as well.

Year 2018 was a very bad year for skycoin. many fuds after ATH.

However project still progressing with tremendous leaps. But not all things good, i will just give more general outline then rather bias.
I will include some links which will be useful for newbie to do research as i found Skycoin website rather hard to follow.
i believe this is the reason why skycoin isnt popular as it should be, as the project is revolution if it works as the whole.

- IOS/Android wallet released (easy to use)

- Transfer rate for this coin is great and fast.
- Explorer is some how it is hard to follow. but that may be because of decentralised blockchain. we dont want to be tracked easily.
         But one thing i should say is it doesnt work sometime. for example most of time you cannot browse through Binance address.
         (Of course you cannot ask this on telegram as you will be banned by the might Sudo)

- Test net been ongoing for years now.
         pay out from the SKYMiner was great compare to cost running.
         There was a little hickup from whitelisting and other than that the setup was easy.

- Telegram group was very helpfull, however i cannot say it is great as there are bunch of SKYCoin admin who think they are god (you cannot say anything bad or even feedback likewise Sudo and his axx suckup)

- I recommend you watch all the youtube interviews and updates. you will Synth very smart guy. He knows the tech.
         (of course you will be offended by the way he presents himself. very amateur and unprofessional. but with his background in blockchain this project is the one you should be watching in near future.)

- Things to look for next is main net will supposed to be launched this 2019q1. with test complete of sky antenna.
however is a bit delay in debug and developing.
- You will find many great things about skycoin. it is so far only blockchain with
         hardware - Skyminer/wallet
         software/language/language/smart contract - with CX/obelist and skyfiber.
         1-1blockchain (unlike Eth you running on single network which killing off the network bandwidth ETH results as is today)
