If they're really wanted to raise funds without government following them then bitcoin is not a good coin. I'm sure alphabets agency are going after that address that the moment they exchange them the funds will be frozen. Well, this is bad news for crypto and I'm sure media will ride this one and make bitcoin bad again.

There are lots of mixer services that is available already and those agencies won't track down where the money goes as it is being liquidated already into fiat. Well, the amount that they have received is not that much since Bitcoin market is not yet in a bull run i assume they have to hodl it first until 2020+ or something.

That's bad and that's an actual risk that the enforcement agencies are talking since the inception of bitcoin. We can't ignore the fact that bitcoin comes with the increased risk of fraud, scam and terrorism funding which actually damages its reputation. I hope the account holders that are funding against humanity gets caught soon for the betterment of crypto ecosystem. This is one kind of adoption that we never wanted in this system.

I think you have the right opinion mate and this also what I am thinking of. Centralized assets like gold and fiat are proven to be the most asset used in crimes thousands of years ago. After Bitcoin was introduced nothing has changed except for the people to start adopting a more secure asset which is Bitcoin a decentralized currency that is perfect for faster transaction worldwide. All of this seems to me a move to create FUD.

besides this fud scenario, I think that the community agrees with the government, which has not legalized bitcoin because it is used as a means of terrorism. I think that is no more an alibi

Did the government do anything for fiats to stop criminals and bad guys from using it or from using it for their bad doings ? No I dont think so  , same applies in crypto  .  government cant also do anything to stop the bad guys even if the cryptos are being regulated or controlled by them  .

That is why people in out there still thinking that bitcoin is only for illegal activity and makes them afraid to join in the crypto world. But soon, after they read another good news of the crypto, they will see that the crypto is like a knife and it depends on the user itself. But that news will make many governments aware and make investigations about the funds, and I think they will get prepare if the Hamas makes something bad.

Jihadists are at it again, trying to raise money through Bitcoin. And this time, their efforts may be getting some traction.

Last week, the military wing of Hamas, known as the al-Qassam Brigades, called on supporters to send Bitcoin to the group. The U.S. designated Hamas as a terrorist group in 1997 and has shut down charities for funding the organization. Since 2007, the jihadist organization has governed the Gaza Strip. It has been under financial strain in recent years, however, largely due to sanctions applied to the group by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, but also because of diminishing support from Iran, neighboring Egypt closing off smuggling tunnels, and economic pressure from the U.S., Europe, Israel, and some Arab countries.


Soon after announcing its intention to crowdfund through Bitcoin, the al-Qassam Brigades posted infographics about Bitcoin on social media and provided a Bitcoin address to which donors could send funds. Within a day, the Hamas digital wallet received roughly $900, although it can not be verified if all funds came from external parties. Most donations were less than $100, although a few were larger. Then, days later, the group posted an additional Bitcoin address.
In less than a week, its wallets received over $2,500 worth of Bitcoin.

This is a big problem for the image of Bitcoin again, after all this crashes, 2 years and still crawling up again. If some billionaire guys donated tons of Bitcoin then it will be a mess (Who might that be? But I do have a bad feeling about this as there are evidence that civil war would happen in Egypt also like what happened to other Arab countries such as Libya,Syria, Palestine name it!). Why should it come to this point? I am now hoping for a positive trend but seeing this makes me feel sick. Hope that this won't go any worst.

I don't know but it looks like media news is giving false news about why bitcoin prices are down and maybe many people have trusted FUD, .I think there may be a lot of whales selling large amounts of assets, and I have guessed, the pope can manipulate prices

But the country where the militant group is from has fiat currency rights? So what stops the group from raising funds with the local currency? Or what stops foreign sympathizers from sending them funds via multiple accounts to the group local banks.
Fiat currencies are used by criminals on regular basis,  of course you hardly see it being mentioned.

I don't like Bitcoin being connected with military or political causes but I guess this is inevitable.This gives bad reputation and encourages those who are against use of Bitcoin. But Bitcoin is available to everyone and everyone can use it as it wants but sometimes that also means abuse.

It is not really that shocking considering so far in the world people always funded all these militia and whatever with dollars or any fiat they could find so of course if you provide them with something better than fiat they will use it. People started to buy coffee with bitcoin, they used to use fiat, people started to buy groceries with bitcoin they used to do it with fiat, people started to spend bitcoin on burger joints they used to only accept bitcoin.

Well obviously, people started to use bitcoin to crowdfund hamas which used to use only fiat. That is not really fault of bitcoin, bitcoin is money, its exactly what dollar/euro/yuan and what not is, so telling bitcoin is the enabler of these things is just pure ill mannered and shows who is against bitcoin and who is not.
