WPN Earns Guinness World Record for $5M Venom Payment in Crypto

Quote
Moraes topped 2,553 entrants in the $2,500 + $150 buy-in Venom, winning $1,050,559.50. Minutes after "TheBigKid" defeated runner-up "GinkgoBiloba" to claim the title, WPN sent him his winnings in Bitcoin - all at once.

As a result, the good folks at Guinness World Records have awarded WPN and ACR the new record for the largest cryptocurrency winning jackpot in an online poker tournament!

"We’re excited for 'TheBigKid' our $1,050,559.50 first place winner in our $5 Million Venom,” said WPN spokesperson Michael Harris. “Earning the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title means it wasn’t just an online poker tournament, it was history in the making.”

The official date and place of the record is July 24, 2019 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a lot of crypto big winning way back in 2017. I remember one thread about it, but seems I can't find it.

Anyways, I guess this is a welcoming news for crypto gamblers as well. It means that whales and poker players are going to try and used crypto and even get it as their withdrawal options.

5 Million worth of bitcoin was a pretty huge sum to take as winning in an online poker match that is why Guinness is kind of very interested with unusual records such as this, I guess there are tons of players that will surely want to beat this record by winning multiple times.

If the motivations on taking up a poker gambling at WPN is about the Guinness Book Of Records I think there will be fewer people that will be interested with it, And if they only target for that kind of tittle but perhaps there will be people that will surely get interested as well as gamblers that would want to play poker in WPN and the motivation would be the winnings and earnings and the about the Wolrd Records, But crypto withdrawal option is pretty sure gonna be well-known because of that news.

Never heard of this one, but to be in the record books? It will surely attract a lot of crypto gamblers around the world and yes, they could be interested to beat it. However, we all know that whales go to crypto because they wanted to remain psuedo anonymous, so I don't know if they idea of exposing their name will sit on them.

I think this is an impressive record and I think it will stay in the Guinnes quite for a long time.I know many persons and gamblers want to beat this record but it looks like it will be extremely difficult to do so,we are not in 2017 anymore where the interest in crypto was only booming.

Not unless some big poker sites offer so much crypto money then the record will stay atop for so long.

And if I got it right, the total winning package is $5 million dollars and the winners get $1 million. But it is still impressive as you have said, and it may open the pandora's box for other poker crypto and even fiat related sites, specially the amount of money involved. And maybe some professional would shift their attention to this whole crypto related sites, so we will see.

This sort of thing is something that I can see Bitcoin, or Crypto used for. As to send this amount if Bitcoin you're not going to have to kill yourself with fees or something along those lines -- like with a payment processor, bank intermediary, etc.

It also allows whoever is receiving the funds to not have an issue with their payment processor, which is vital when you're dealing with large sums of money from something like gambling.
