People are saying that Huawei is dead because you can't get popular apps and games for their mobiles. However, Trump seems to be keen on banning a load of these products, so you could end up with the situation that you need to buy Huawei if you want the banned ones. How much will this affect the US if the tech war continues, and even escalates?

It seems India is more strict with banning Chinese apps than USA but until now the tech war made the losses for Chinese companies and its economies and its more like Chinese companies are moving their companies to other countries to keep their earning.Recently Tencent announced that they are pulling out of China since they lost 14 billions just after India banned Pubg mobile.

Those companies can live from their own local market just fine. Even if some countries stop them from doing business, they still have the rest of the world. In my country, which is also under Trump's sanctions, we are not going to stop using Chinese products anytime soon. Besides we don't produce anything after the economy was ruined by those in power + Trump.

This might be just US centrism, seeing as whatever happens there = "The world". But, China has the largest population, ie. the biggest market there is. And, unlike America, China knows how to wait, once Trump leaves this will be over. American companies want to tap to the Chinese market and to do that they can't have their own government get in the way forever...

Chinese companies would love to stay in the American market, but its not like they would "die" by being stopped from doing so. Trump just thinks too highly of himself, and the world which is now much more globalized than when he made his fortune. Also protectionism doesn't work.

So if you want to do TikTok or play pubg get a Huawei? Well that also sounds interesting. To think China is starting to get competitive in the software arena...

These apps that Trump is banning aren't worth trying to bypass in order to access. At most you get what, Tiktok and WeChat, maybe? The ban isn't going to help China because Americans at the most mildest inconvenience won't bother.

And how exactly is Trump going to enforce this? Building the Great (fire)Wall of America? Order all ISPs to transit using a filter as China does? Sure he could order google to remove them from their store, but people can still get the app using other means.

The technological advancement of china has played a huge role in perpetuating the nationalist style of politics that the current communist party of china is pursuing chinese companies are now ruling the world. As a result of globalization the market is no longer reserved only for its own country so the whole world has now become the chinese market huawei is leading from the front in this case but it is doing a lot of bad for the united states. Bitter videos are leaking personal information which is why the us has announced a ban on donald trump.

I think ultimately it is the person's prerogative whether he will take the risk of continuing the usage of those apps. Anyway, most individuals that find those apps useful are mostly millennials or younger generation. Because honestly, we don't need those apps. If you want to communicate with others, there are so many ways to do that. But if you will be using those apps, you are just risking your own privacy.

By just banning U.S. firms from doing transactions with the parent company, and then Apple and Android begin removing connected apps from their store. iOS banned Tiktok.

There are ways to bypass this, but the damage is still done. Most people aren't going to bother taking the few extra steps to bypass the ban so the company's going to suffer. Even if users do bypass it, the company's still banned from accepting transactions in coordination with major companies.

Think of it like sanctions.

The ban is not on Americans downloading the apps, the ban is on companies subject to US jurisdiction from offering the apps for download. This is an important difference because downloading these apps will not get you in any kind of trouble (with the US government, but you will probably be spied on by the Chinese Government).

It would be best if people and businesses worldwide were to stop doing business with Huawei. The technology they use is likely stolen, and their equipment is likely able to either spy on you, or can be "bricked" by the Chinese government, or both.

On reading through the history of most of the internet and computing, it seems that it was the US that did all the initial stealing of technology over the years. It seems to be the US pot slinging mud at the Chinese kettle, because the kettle uses superior technology to the pot.
