[PSA] Ledger Nano fake support number

Don't fall for this trap, it looks like there's a fake Ledger Nano S Support Number in Google. This is a warning for everyone. Stay safe!!!

Ledger actually states they do not offer support over the phone at all according to this Contact Us page on their site. https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006554854-How-to-contact-us
The support subsection of the Ledger site is pretty comprehensive, but if you really need to reach out to them Ledger says to either contact @Ledger on Twitter or submit a contact form here (click for link).

Mine doesn't show that. But it's crazy that from your screenshot, it just highlights the number as if it's legit.

It seems that this number is spreading on youtube and here on the forum(Seems deleted already).

It looks like they are pretending as HitBTC support and Binance support

Wait, what? Do people actually type "Ledger Nano Support Number" in to Google and just call the first thing that pops up!? Not only that, but they are then presumably handing over their mnemonic seed over the phone or being directed to email their private keys or wallet file to someone? How careless and/or clueless do you have to be to fall for something like this?

Anyone bored enough to call them up and string them along for an hour or so? Tell them you've got a few bitcoin but you are struggling to input your seed - I'm sure that'll keep them on the line for a while.

I did not read so far that someone is report that he became a victim of fake Ledger support, but I believe there are such cases, it's just one more attack vector. We have fake devices, fake Ledger Live and now we have fake Ledger support, I wonder what's next.

It is hard to say what percentage of those who have hardware wallets has complete knowledge about how the whole thing works. They are an ideal target for hackers who just take some free money from them, all because of their ignorance.

It has been removed hours after it gained traction on Reddit. It definitely got removed a lot faster than expected:

• SCAM Alert! For new users - Ledger does not have a support number.

Mate, you're completely underestimating how careless and ignorant people are even with thousands of dollars at stake.

If you google the telephone number, it comes up related to quite a bunch of alleged support sites: Blockchain toll free number, Binance customer support, Coinbase Support, Cash App Customer care, Gemeni support. It appears mostly on blogs, forums and social media, but likely tries an add+site every now and then as in the case reported by the OP.

Something so common to do as looking up a support number needs to be performed against the official site, firstly to ensure that they provide support through a given channel, and then to assert the use of official one in detriment of bogus phishing/scam attempts. Sad but true. It’s kind of like if, by default, any crypto support related information we encounter should have a conceptual imaginary yellow type-1 Trust Newbie flag placed alongside it.

I can see people fall for this kind of thing. The same type of people who google Bitcoin Foundation support because they want to speak to the manager of Bitcoin Ltd so he can revert their bitcoin transaction. It is a good thing it has been removed already by google.

It's definitely far from impossible. If some people get tricked into giving their recovery seed to airdrops, then people getting tricked into a fraudulent Ledger support hotline should be uncommon.
