Bip 39 seed only shows 1 adress

Hi, I imported a bip39 seed to electrum which contains multiple btc adresses with balance, but electrum wallet only shows 1 adress with balance. Anyone knows why?

Its synced, I only see the balance of 1 adress, but on my ledger I see all balances and adresses

Do all addresses containing a balance start with the same character (1.., 3.. or bc1..) ?

Do you have different 'accounts' in ledger live?


P.s. Since you have imported your seed into electrum, regard it as compromised.
You should reset your nano s and reinitialize it with a new seed, which you should NEVER enter anywhere except the nano s itself.

The nano s stores the seed securely and non-reachable. By importing it into a desktop wallet you are defeating the whole purpose of a hardware wallet.

longbtcdev, are you import seed from your Ledger to Electrum? This is not something you should do just like that, since there is option to pair your Ledger with Electrum and use it instead Ledger Live.

Problem is that you probably have Legacy + SegWit accounts on Ledger, and you only recover one of them. When you import seed there is option to select Legacy type of address (start with 1) and Segwit p2sh ( start with 3), third option is for native SegWit (start with bc1).

There is also possibility that you have multiple accounts created on Ledger Live, so to see all account you need to change last digit in derivation path from 0 to 1 or 2, depending how much accounts you have.

This is correct. Your seed is already compromised.

Electrum supports ledger nano wallet, but it is not supposed to be used in that way.

Probably happening because you have addresses in different derivation paths. Try m/49/0/0
Also, you may have change addresses. However, hardware wallet + electrum are not supposed to be used in that way.

Did you by chance used the Wallet->Find functionality and filtered to only a certain address? Does the bottom of Electrum containing an Edit-Box with that certain address (or part of it)?

Possible causes:
1. Gap limit. Electrum has a default gap limit of 25. If the other addresses are past this generation limit, Electrum won't see them until you force it to.
2. You have a mixture of address types (Legacy + Nested SegWit + Native SegWit etc) in your Ledger Live setup. An Electrum wallet instance only supports one type. So you would need to create a Legacy wallet and then a separate Nested SegWit wallet (and a separate Native SegWit wallet if reqd).


Curious as to why you imported the seed mnemonic directly instead of simply "pairing" Electrum with your Ledger device using the builtin hardware wallet functionality within Electrum?

I think this is the most likely reason for OP's issue, @OP can you confirm?
I suspect OP reused his main receiving address, and change amount goes to change address
as many times he did this, new change address also created that many times
and possibly past 25+ addresses gap limit, so electrum not seeing the rest of his coin in that change address
