If anyone here has editing privileges over at http://en.bitcoin.it, your help is needed.  Especially if you help run that site.  They have a whitelist system that only allows people to edit the wiki if they send a small amount of bitcoins to an address.  Which is fine as a system for keeping out spam, except that the system uses an MtGox API.  Obviously, we all know now that MtGox is toast.

So, ideally, someone will be able to either: a) remove this restriction, or b) point it to someplace like Coinbase that isn't down and has working APIs to replace the API that it's using now.  Can anyone help with this so that wiki will be editable to new users again?

They have a whitelist system that only allows people to edit the wiki if they send a small amount of bitcoins to an address.

Which makes it a censored centralized system. The very opposite of what Bitcoin is supposed to be.

It's not about spamming, it's that MtGox is down.

You can't make the payment anymore.

Code:
$btc_addr = BitcoinPayment::mtgox_query('2/money/bitcoin/address', array('ipn' => $url, 'description' => 'WP#'.$wgUser->getId()));
https://github.com/MtGox/BitcoinPayment/blob/master/SpecialBitcoinPayment.php

^^ obsly down.

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)
Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers

gnah. Bitcoin is decentralized. Bitcoin Wikis are not. Deal with it. For me it was also hard to accept that LukJr can promote his Tonal crap there but well, if I don't like it, I can start my own wiki and promise better rules.

I am pretty sure the wiki has changed hands, so if that person wants to add a payment system I would donate my robust api system when it launch to help fixing the payment mod.

cedivad nailed it here.  I really wouldn't mind a new wiki that doesn't have this restriction, heck, if we got all of Bitcointalk involved with the wiki, or even a large portion of it, the spamming that the wiki is trying to prevent wouldn't be an issue because it'd be removed pretty quickly.

That said, if the amount they're requiring people to send to the API is pretty small, I'm not totally opposed to that too in order to keep it clean of spam.  I'm just saying that the current API needs to be replaced to point to some place that's not down.  Frankly, I wouldn't want it go to MtGox even if it does get up and running again, that exchange is just crap.
