Securing Your Bitcoin Seed: A Trap Box with a Twist

It may sound like an old method, but I find it unique and effective.

That means:
If you try to open or break the wooden box without the key, the glass bottle inside will break and acid will come out and destroy the paper writing, so there will be no chance of theft!!!  I thought that instead of acid, using lemon juice and light pen writing would be much safer.

Seed phrase is not what people should be very bothered about if you know the right thing to do. You can go for a passphrase instead if you know what it is and use like 8 or more different characters as the passphrase. I prefer it to any other means of securing seed phrase.

It doesn't matter how you keep your seed phrase safe, what really matters is that you should back it up and keep them in three locations far from each other and safe from third party because if your small box is destroyed, your seed phrase will be destroyed too.

However, like what Charles-Tim said, passphrase is good for an extra layer of security and don't keep you passphrase and seed phrase in the same place but in a different place so that it becomes difficult for anyone to have access to your wallet if they see either the seed phrase or your passphrase.

Have you thought about losing the key to the lock? This method is fine but it is not free from risk which is losing the key or another person gaining access to the key without your approval. Hardware wallets still remain the best and safest way but it comes with a lot of burden as well and in the absence of that then steel capsule is my choice to store my seed phrase. I think getting a marker will be cheaper and affordable for anyone who does not have a hardware wallet.

even if this is something feasible ( it's stressful and a long process) this might only solve the problem of theft when it comes to storing your seedphrase. Most times it's even difficult for someone to get your seedphrase if you store them properly. The major or key reason we emphasize on keeping your seedphrase well is so it doesn't get lost or damaged in the process of keeping it safe. With this your method, it's most likely not going to keep your seed safe but in danger. We can just stick to the regular mean if storing our keys, and these methods have been tested and trusted by the community. No need for many long processes..

I don't understand what is the point of creating this kind of backup when you can't even read the seed words and recover yourself

Get a small safe and some simple home automation sensors.  Aqara stuff is cheap and works well.

Use a pair of sensors on your safe.
If the safe gets opened, you get an instant text alert on all your devices.
If the safe gets moved, you get an instant text alert on all your devices.

Add a tiny camera and you can have a picture texted to you too.  And the cost for this kind of home automation setup is less than $100 if you DIY.

Home automation is useful for all kinds of things.  Nobody but you will know part of your setup is for protecting your seed phrase (and whatever else you keep in the safe).

Hiding a Bitcoin seed isn’t that hard. There are plenty of ways to do it without spending a lot of time carving a wooden box with some kind of acid or lemon juice . I mean, how many wooden boxes would I have to make just to keep multiple backups of the same choice? That’s not really the point though, it just feels kind of lame.
Still, it’s a method and who knows, someone might actually find it interesting
