2019 Allen & Ginter Card 213 - Egg Reference Thread

The 2019 Allen and Ginter series was released on July 17, 2019 (https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/2019-topps-allen-ginter-preview).  The 2019 edition includes many exciting rookies: Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Pete Alonso.

For those that follow social media, there is a special card that commemorates the world record holder for most likes on Instagram - Egg!

In an (egg)nutshell, Kylie Jenner posted a birth announcement which set a record for likes at the time of 18+ million likes, but an anonymous poster then posted a picture of egg which went viral and has 60+ million likes.  A star is born (hatched).

Below is a sample of the different variety of eggs available.  Among them is a 1/1 blank back that was sold on ebay from the Topps Vault.



The current record selling price is between 1,500 and 1,000.  We can't be sure since it was a best offer.



We know that this card is still falling under the radar since a 1/1 printing plate sold for just 10 bucks!!

WOW!!  A place to share some eggciting rare eggs  Here are a couple of early on eggs from the ginter x collection.  I believe you might be able to find a mini still on ebay.  Happy hunting all.  The little humpty dumpty guy was from the 2001 Topps collection I believe.

If anyone snags any rare eggs and wants to sell pm me for sure.  Thanks all   It looks like the mini gold border is in extremely short supply when there is usually plenty of those out there.  I think it is because the hot box this year is the gold border unlike last year it was the silver cards.  So if you see a mini gold border give it some thought as it might be a tough one to find.

Agree.  If 2018 represents a typical year, the gold borders will dry up first as they are only available in the value packs.  Since the value packs represent a bargain (low price, lots of cards), they sell out towards the first quarter of the following year.  Once they run out, no one can be sure that the gold card they purchased is an original pull or a recycled, previously-graded, card.

I'm sure many will buy the full-sized, gold border thinking they bought the rare, mini.  A search on sold "mini gold border egg" shows just two. Very odd to have so few a few months after the card was released.

Looks like the only ginter x black mini egg is now sold.  I also noticed the black lotus card has now sold for over 100k, wow!!.  The highest price two months ago was 65K and it was a higher grade.  Whether it's magic, crypto, egg these cards are a lot of fun and worth collecting if you enjoy the hobby.  Good luck to all my friends in treasure hunting land, have fun.

Calling out to all treasure hunters, to make the egg card even more fun and unique  the shades of the eggs are colored differently.  The black ginter x regular size is a peach color tint, the black ginter x mini is a yellow tint and the regular common mini is a neutral flesh tint.  Maybe the silver mini will really be a surprise color.

One can still buy the complete set of 350 mini-x cards for under 500 bucks.   There are 2 of them in fact for sale now.   i don't see you losing money as things are on pace for the mini x to reach that much alone by December.
