Freedom Skatepark Project aims to support at-risk youth and the existing skateboarding community in Jamaica by:
- Constructing the Kingston's first public skatepark, free of charge to the community
- Supporting at-risk youth through CJF's skateboarding-based youth programme, Edu-Skate*
- Providing complementary skateboarding and safety equipment on-site
*The Edu-Skate Programme is a skateboarding-based youth intervention that uses skateboarding as a tool for personal development and life-skills, and works to promote community leadership and engagement. It is the central aspect of the Freedom Skatepark Project. Based on our previous projects in Peru and Angola, our expected reach is the following:
- 280 children per year
- almost 3k children impacted by 2029 !
"Life skills training can prevent violence against children by enhancing their communication, conflict management and problem solving sills, and assisting them to build positive peer-to-peer relationships."
