No news from TON

A few days ago, some news platform such as Coindesk and Cointelegaph announced that TON's code will be released on Sept. 1. I expected the news to be fake as nothing had been announced officially by telegram.
I have two questions.
1. What is the purpose of such news platform from spreading fake news?
2. Is there any report about what is going on with Telegram and its TON? Why nothing is announced?

The news platforms you mentioned were previously seen in fake news, so smart people are used to not believing such news until the news appears on the developers' social networks or on their official sites. Double-check every news and then you can’t be deceived.

We can't really assume that it's fake news just because Telegram didn't make any official announcement. They probably intended to make the announcement exclusive to their investors. Various news outlets also claim they got the info from anonymous investor/s.

2. Is there any report about what is going on with Telegram and its TON? Why nothing is announced?

They are currently preparing for their legal battle with the US SEC. The hearing is set on February 18-19, 2020. It was originally scheduled today but it was postponed by the NY court according to some news outlets.
