Something between "show all" and the default 20 would be nice!

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. But an option between "show all" and the default would be very useful for larger threads. Displaying 100 posts at a time would be very useful for quickly finding things in large threads.

If this feature isn't here to conserve resources I'm okay with that.

I made a script that scrapes all posts from a thread, and uploads it as one page to loyce.club/showall/

How to use it
1. Get the topic ID from the URL. I'll use 5102296 as an example.
2. Post the following link, but replace the topic ID by the one you want: http://loyce.club/showall/5102296.html on any public board, so my scraper can find it. This has to be a new post, edits are ignored.
3. Wait a bit (about 10 seconds + 5 seconds per page)
4. Click the link you created
5. Feel free to delete your post again

The link created at #2 is not an archive: any new request will overwrite it. If you want, you can archive it.

Limitations
I scrape a maximum of 500 pages per topic (sorry Wall Observer). I can increase this if needed, but this is probably enough to kill your browser already.
During scraping, all new requests are ignored. I didn't account for multitasking. If someone else occupies my scraper, you'll have to post your request again a bit later.
There's an additional 2 minute delay between requests.

That's what I thought, the limitation could be there for a reason. Probably to avoid affecting the forum loading speed if some many people tried to"show all" at a given time.

This is a great point. Perhaps there could be a button for every 10 pages that loads 10 pages at a time? If you didn't want to use it you could just click next for example if you were on page 9 and just wanted the single page 10. This could simultaneously solve loading issues, desire to have a more populated page, reduce the number of page loads required to read a thread, as well as be a partial solution to the "ALL" option disappearing in super long threads.

isn't "search" function on the top right corner of the pages enough?
you can go to any topic with any number of pages like that stake your address topic with 540 pages and scroll to the top of the page and enter the term you want to search (eg. i searched my username) and it brings up the post that contains that term.

Yes, that's true. This is also a good opportunity.
works even better than searching single pages via CTRL + F.
the forum search works very well and searches depending on which level you are at thread, subforum or the whole board
