The features like double spending has made hacker or scammer more advanced. I have seen a lot of platforms which are vulnerable and allow their users to double spend the bitcoin or Bitcoin gold in your example. This credits the user two times. They get credited on the platform they made their first deposit(probably with smallest transaction fees) and redirect the transactions to their own wallet(with higher fees) and unfortunately, the first one gets reversed by the blockchain and the second one gets credited.

This is usually a method to cheat the network by spending 1 coin in double mean. That's why most of the platforms only give credits to the users after they see confirmation on the network.
