Is it possible to return USDT (Tether) sent to the wrong address?

I had some Tether on my wallet (myetherwallet.com). Yesterday, I copied the ETH address on my exchange.blockchain account and sent a certain amount from my MEW.
I don’t know how it happened, but the money didn’t come and the support says that this is not their address.
Can I do something to get the money back or is it a bitter experience?

I thought it would be a bitter experience  There is no chance to correct your mistake on the blockchain  It's like revealing your private key to others, sending money to the wrong address, you have no chance to get your money back. One piece of advice, scan your computer for viruses, it could be the reason why you copied the wrong address, or it was because you were not careful.

This is not a completely wrong address. I copied the ETH address of the exchange, but I had to send the USDT. And sent USDT to ETH address.
I don’t understand why they are compatible?

That's unfortunate, If you are really sure it is your blockchain eth wallet you can provide additional details and send it to the support to support your claim. It is just weird after you contact them they denied it? Did you import this wallet? I know we can import btc paper key on blockchain but I haven't tried on Ethereum yet if possible.

EDIT: Looks like we can only import BTC and Bitcoin cash on blockchain wallet right now, so I guess you should contact the support again and fight for it.

It is your lucky day! I am back with a solution.
First you need to login your blockchain wallet on desktop or laptop, you can also try on mobile and login via browser. After you have login navigate to Ethereum and click it and you will see "Export Private key" just like the image shown below. After that you are free to import to whatever ethereum wallet you like. I recommend Metamask or Trust wallet. Goodluck!

There are two types of USDT:

- ERC20 Token (based on Ethereum's blockchain)
- Omni Token (Based on bitcoin's blockchain)

If you managed to send the funds from MEW to The pit (blockchain's exchange) Ethereum address, it means that they do support the ERC20 token.

The exchange doesn't give you full control over your funds (no access to your private keys) though, so the only one who can recover the funds for you would be the exchange itself. If they said the address doesn't belong to them, you should consider scanning your computer, as you might have a clipboard malware that changes the address (to the attacker's) whenever you copy-paste.

Exchange. But I sent USDT to ETH address.

If you are sure that the address belongs to the exchange then they should be able to recover your funds. They can refund your coins if the funds are there in their wallet.

As @OmegaStarScream said, if the USDT is an ERC20 token then they support that tokens.

The funds is possible to recover as long as the address you have sent your usdt is owned by the exchange that you have mentioned. In order to recover your funds you must contact the support and send the transaction to them. USDT is compatible with many wallets like myetherwallet and more. If the address that you have sent is not from the exchange then your funds won't be recovered unless the person who owns the address will send it to you but the case like returning your funds is very rare. Only good people would do that.

Even if the Exchange reviews you case again (you’ll need to insist) and it turns out that the recipient ETH address is indeed theirs, it does not mean that they will undertake the potential recovery process, and some do it only for a handsome fee (i.e. HitBTC, which is not your case, states on their page that they charge 100$ for those cases that they can actually deal with).

Since OP sent it from MEW means its ERC20 chain. Only exchange could help you on that case. I have tried to search their recovery conditions. But unable to find such as option there. Don't lose your hope, try to contact with them since they have full access of your address. And also check your address if its same as on blockchain exchange. And check on explorer if you had sent fund on correct address. There is chances of your clipboard hack. So before contact with support be sure everything was correct.

The lower address  is the contract address of USDT. Whenever you send USDT it will interact with the contract address that's how tokens on Ethereum platform works.



What wallet did you send to the support? you should send the wallet starting with.  0xece..............

You have likely hidden your address for privacy reasons.
Note that all Ethereum transactions are shown to public. As the receiver address is shown, it's very easy to find your address. So, if you care about your privacy very much, replace that screenshot with a new one which the receiver address is hidden too.

So if it's an address you own on blockchain.com you can get the private key or seed and import it in a wallet to recover the access of your tokens. But if it's only an exchange address you'll have to ask them to send back your tokens, unfortunately they certainly will require fees for doing that

In this case, I believe they can help you solve it. You have sent USDT to the exchange's own ETH address, which means that the ETH address you send is owned by the exchange, they can extract the private key of this exchange and give it back to you or they can also send it to the USDT address you need. It's workable, so contact them for assistance. USDT is an ERC20 in the Ethereum Blockchain, so take it easy, guy
