The community behind the project rejected this decision taken by @ned ( Previous steemit owner), the reason is that justin sun in the start
talked about swapping the steem coin into tron, which community doesn't like at all. After all this, the war between the justin and witnesses
for governance started and still continued. Blocktrade who is one of the biggest steem stake holder decided to create a new chain with the new name Hive,
