Be careful fake telegram id similarly to my forum userid

just got notified by forum member "MakeMoneyBtc" as below

Btw, there is a person in telegram that is claiming to be you. He has your username from bitcointalk, and it also says in his title that he's 24/7 exchange. He gave me a bitcoin adress where to send the bitcoin and found out it was connected with another scam attempt. You should check that and warn everyone that you don't do deals on telegram.


so I want confirm here that I mostly NOT use any messengers and mostly ONLY deal here on forum via private message so if ever any one claim on telegram or skype or any messenger as me then never trust him and never send money any money over telegram or any messengers

so again always be careful as there are many scammers here and there whose show them as trusted via try make similarly userids on skype telegram etc of trusted forum members and try scam people

If you have a service thread, add that details there. You can also add this "no Telegram" thing on your profile so if anyone searches your profile on bitcointalk they will know or at least suspicious about the account that claims to be you.

Creating this thread alone won't be effective.

We should not do any deal in telegram only. It is right that telegram is more user-friendly for discussion than forum pm(it is also limited). So we should confirm first via the forum before making any deal. And generally, I do this.

I also got to know this from someone (I guess it was actmyname IIRC). There is a unique ID allotted to every Telegram account which could be accessed through userinfobot.

[1] Go to Telegram search bar and type "@userinfobot".

[2] Start the bot and it will display your actual User ID no. In my case the bot displays my ID:

3) Ask your user to verify if its you by forwarding one of the chat messages to "@userinfobot". If the user ID matches then they are talking to right guy.

I made another account in TG to explain this. I sent a message to my primary TG ID and forwarded that message to "@userinfobot" and this is what it showed me:



So in this way users can check and verify.



You should check your Telegram ID and put it up on your main thread and link this post to help them verifying if they are talking to actual user.
