Let's face it, people are changing from the usual spam posts that include unrelated information to just plain, nonconstructive posts that do make sense as given in context but do not really contribute anything to the thread. One example that I found interestingly appealing was this one: [The post was deleted]. As you can see, the post makes sense and is not off-topic, but does it actually contribute anything? It could simply not be there and have the same effect. It is also interesting to notice the post/activity ratio of that user  Roll Eyes. I have reported posts like this one before but a few of them have been rejected - or perhaps I am simply too strict with it?

I want to know the forum's opinion on this, including what should be done about it and how to consider a post as "spam."

Forever strong.

I would just report them to mods and let the mods handle them.

EDIT: Just to make sure my post is a little more constructive (no need for irony here  Wink), maybe if enough people report them, the mods will start doing something more drastic when dealing with the posts.

The only problems I see, as I mentioned in the OP, is that is it actually reportable? I have had mixed responses with the mods, and this certainly does not qualify as the normal kind of spam you would report.

Well, I guess really the only avenue is doing what you are doing here and hope a mod will comment in this thread.

Ive got nothing else...lol.

You're actually right. The only thing I am seeking with this thread is an official word on whether this kind of posts are reportable or not. I would assume they are, but I guess the level of strictness varies from mod to mod.

I do have an idea, you could report yourself and see if you can get a mod to comment on this thread Smiley.

It seems like my report was considered to be valid. I would assume for this that all such posts are, indeed, reportable.

Good news! Smiley

So I guess people who post 1 liners such as "cool stuff" or something along those lines can now be reported?

I do believe so, as far as consistency goes. So let's all just go ahead and report away!

Insubstantial posts are off-topic and have never been allowed.

I think these shouldn't be allowed, anyway there is a spam section "beginners" with spam topics so it shouldn't be an issue for spammers.

I have to admit I'm confused by the link you gave as an example of "the new spam"  is there certain posts you have a problem with or multiple posts?  I can think of one for sure that would fit the bill for spam but i'm more interested in your interpretation of the posts in the thread.

Well, this post should be reported first before the the post in your link..LOL

Edited:--I  did not get to see the first link before it was deleted so maybe he was right..

I think he's referring to the following type of posts:

Those look awesome

Wow these are cool

nice

This looks cool, nice work

Not exactly off-topic or truly spam, but they're also kinda redundant and unnecessary.

Yes, guys, I am sorry about that. The post was deleted. I changed the OP to reflect that. I guess it was unwise of me to not quote it directly.
