Personally, I discourage any topics like this are created and work here (wrong section, it should be meta), at least for low-rank users. At low rank, the amount of merit needed to rank-up is very small, so an active user can earn a few merit easily to increase the rank without the need for topics like this, as long as are they really positive. Not only merit sources, regular users also give away their merit, the ratio for a user to earn some merit is not difficult. There have been a few topics about this before, I think you shouldn't create another one. It is not really something useful
