While I was using Youtube a while ago, there was a suggested live video related to Bitcoin then I entered into the video where I see 5000 BTC giveaway which itself enough for me to identify that this is a scam attempt then I visited the channel where there is no previous video only I can see this live streaming with  145K active live viewers then I saw the community posts on that channel where there is no posts related to cryptos and I found this is a gaming related youtube channel.
channel link : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHJkOL8hSQog_pUh-lc-aEQ

So beware of the scammers guys, and let other people know about this as well.Hope this is the right place for this thread.

Yeah this has become a common thing now, I got a notification from someone's backup channel to say their main had been hacked and has an obviously fake crypto giveaway on it...

They had a guy pretending to be someone notable in the crypto space and the same sort of giveaway...

Giveaway : you GIVE me, then i'm AWAY.
Same situation does happen to one of my gamer friend. Fortunately he asked me about that kind of giveaway. I said to him to stay farrrrrrrr awayyyy from all those kind of giveaway. I told him, never expect free money from non legit person/organization and never send anything (especially money) to someone we don't know (except when we want to do charity ofc).

@Welsh.
Kindly to nuke this user. Ddodiais.
Fresh new account and spreading YT channel about how to get bitcoin/etherum with easy and (ofc) free.

I know these sort of things happen a lot right, and I know a lot of people get stung by them. However, when you are advertising a giveaway for 5000 BTC, surely people don't actually fall for that? That's a lot of Bitcoin for early adopters let alone for someone willing to give away. This is usually from youtube accounts, and people who have zero presence within the Bitcoin community which is another huge red flag. I'm not convince that anyone actually falls for these ludicrous giveaways?

Basically some (a lot) people don't view Bitcoin as money, they think it's some shiny thingy, so their brains just don't have the same response when they encounter something fishy. Also non-bitcoin people are not used to Bitcoin amounts, so they don't immediately understand if, for example, 0.1 BTC is a lot or not. It takes conscious effort to go and check the price and do the calculation, while phrases like "$100" are immediately understood, even to those outside of the US. Plus Bitcoin is still so new and full of strange things (to outsiders), that some might things that maybe someone is giving away a lot of coins.

This kind of topic is not new on our forum on our thread on the scam accusations too there is some thread that is related to this content and still, this kind of video is still believing by the people because those are the people who want to easy more money immediately even they just make an investment. The reason why some of the YouTuber use this kind of method after they gained popularity of the channel is trying to scam them also the supporters will trust them because they know the channel is good but at the end of the time, the channel will get all of the things on your funds and take back and let the account back to the owner or abandoned because of the different scams and accusations now.

Im amazed how many people still fall for a scam like this... like someone really is going to just give away 5000 Bitcoin.

This seems to be happening more and more that popular accounts get hacked/hijacked and some fake Bitcoin Giveaway is started on it.

I mean if it happens more often it must really be worth it for the scammers.

Use common sense, if it sounds like a scam it probably is a scam

Not really, because people knew the identity of the youtube so even if the do scam people they will be in prison sooner so this is not their action, you can see that all the videos on the channel got deleted which means someone hacked other people's youtube account to scam people.
when I searched tom lee on youtube search then I found that the same video is streaming on three different hacked accounts

1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0zkisT31WA
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5SeGM7MjuU
3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYxA3aiomVY

Possibly there could be more...

The doubling feature of a giveaway that ask an X amount of money and will be given back 2X from the base amount is obviously a huge red flag. This type of modus crawling around the internet has the same process to some of the so called "crypto investment" where they promise 2x or 5x return after months or years of waiting until your balls become rotten.

Anyways, mass reporting can help eradicate this deceptive projects.

It will only be taken down if we report these fake giveaways videos in Youtube. But yeah, there's always a sucker for this kind of trick because it's supposedly free money after all right? And even though that Youtube reportedly tightening their policy with this so called crypto scams, still scammers find a way by hackers people's youtube account and impersonating those high profile personalities to trick, specially noobs.
