Hey y’all. I’m looking at cold storage hardware, and prefer it to be wireless. I came across the Sugi card. I can’t figure out if the company would have access so the private keys, and I can’t find much on the security of their app outside of what’s on their own website, and one dude on YouTube. Any thoughts?

Yea, their website really doesn't go into much detail, even in their "how it works" section. This is the first time I've heard of this wallet though, and I frequently read forums and crypto Twitter. Personally I'd say just stick with the more reputable hardware manufacturers instead. Probably the Ledger Nano X[1] if you really want something wireless.

Dont know where you do get or able to search up that Sugi card (unless if this is some other shilling again)  Grin

When it comes to cold/hardware wallets then nothing beats out;

Ledger Nano (already suggested above)
&
Trezor

These wallets had been already tested by time and been supported by lots.So i would be confident enough to suggest these wallets
and better not to risk up with that so called Sugi card that you've been saying.

I believe OP is referring about Sugi NFC card, and this is their ANN in this forum [ANN] Sugi NFC Cryptocurrency Wallet Card now Worldwide AND at a Reduced Price.
I don't find any accusations against this wallet, but they are using bumping service to promote their service https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=2497722
This looks like a scammy trick IMO, I suggest don't use this wallet. You can choose ledger or trezor since it's very popular and safe.

How can they store the private key in a secured manner in a flat like credit/debit card?  Cheesy while the Ledger devices stored it with the use of PCB board and microchips? Furthermore, I will not sacrifice using cable or bluetooth (if you want wireless) to NFC just to verify and sign my transaction.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping I could find a wireless option more affordable than the nano X as I don’t have a large amount of BTC to store, but it seems I’ll have to drop the $119.

Is there a specific reason why it has to be wireless? You could get Nano S at a cheaper price if you're fine with cables. NFC is not exactly wireless either (sure, no cables, but still has to be close to your phone).

An alternative would be to use your old phone as a makeshift wallet until those famous wallets get cheaper.

90% chance that it's for convenience reasons, which is what's these companies are mostly advertising with the wireless hardware wallets anyway. I personally have tried the Nano X, and it's convenient as heck. Moving back to the Nano S would be a hassle. With that said though, the Nano S will suffice unless you do transactions every single day.

You probably have some reason why you want a wireless connection, although a cheap OTG cable can serve you well and be a much safer option. As for the Nano X, Ledger regularly has significant discounts on its devices (the last one was 50% on the Nano S), so if it's not urgent and you can wait, it is very likely that you will go much cheaper, if not sooner, then for the next Black Friday.

There are a lot of different credit card type wallets, but I couldn’t recommend one to you as some sort of secure option, especially not in the sense that it can serve as a cold wallet storage.

You'll never go wrong with Ledger Nano X or any of its version. Ledger or Trezor any of them will remove the worries that you might feel whenever you think about the security of your funds.

But as the latest version, there's more feature that you would love to have with the X version. And in these times, it's hard to trust new brands/manufacturers when it comes to hardware wallets.

The main reason I am looking for something wireless is I use a Chromebook, which looks to be incompatible with Trezor, and losing compatibility with Ledger Nano S soon? So I would need something where I can manage assets on my mobile and send to a hardware wallet wirelessly. Unless there’s a hardware wallet that can plug into an iphone.

Ledger's Chrome extension has been phased out for a while now, since Ledger Live was released. So, no. As far as I know you wouldn't be able to use a Nano S on a Chromebook. Unless you do something like installing Linux on your Chromebook, which I would assume is something that you don't want to do.

In that case, it would be best for you to use Nano X + Ledger Live on iOS via Bluetooth. It should be emphasized that the iOS version must be at least 9+, and that problem with iPhone is that Apple is not allows USB connections so Nano S is only working in consultation mode via OTG cable, which means it is essentially a watch-only wallet.

When it comes to cold storage better use something tested by time. Security has to be tested again and again.
