Do bounty managers deserve an award in the form of merit ?

Sorry, I feel a little strange about this fact. If the user send merit to the bounty thread that is proven to be legit especially for managers or OP is something that is prohibited ?

I ask this because I am surprised by what many users on this thread say. They praise managers and bounty for giving them good results when participating in them, but so far managers only get 2 merit from users as a form of "possible" appreciation. So is sending a merit for manager as a form of appreciation for his good performance in terms of managing legit bounty is recommended or prohibited ?

Sending merit to bounty managers should not be recommended nor prohibited. It all depends, since sending merit is not all about having quality posts but also for being thankful and mostly a token of appreciation from answering a question, especially on Development & Technical Discussion board or from any constructive newbie questions.

My opinion is "your merits your rule" send whomever and wherever you want. There was originally no specific rule created by theymos, whom and where you can send merits. If you think bounty manager doing good efforts in the bounty management, and or project is good it's up to you if you want to give merits to his post.

I dont think its prohibited or recommended because you are free to do it based on your own judgment as long as it doesnt break the rules. It all depend on the giver and its like you and other appreciate the campaign manager in their thread. This is not prohibited or recommended, but a good reward for a manager who has good performance is to give him merit as a form of appreciation for him. If the manager is ranked lower, then you have helped him approach a higher rank with merit.

Maybe for some yes but from my view I prefer to give a positive feedback rather than a merit since it's very limited you could spend those merits on other good posts or just wait until you find an interesting post worth giving a merit. If I have hundreds of merit to spare I don't mind tossing a few on campaign managers that need help in ranking up.

Just give merits and as much to wherever you want mate. But give, because hoarding merits serves no good. Merits isn't money yeah. But don't sell merits either. Just give it as a form of appreciation, love, validation, etc.

You can use merits in whatever way you want, as long you're not abusing system by selling merits, giving to your alts or sth. From my point of view, giving merits to bounty manager isn't good practice. For me it looks like ass licking. You say it's sign of appreciation, but bounty management is their job and they already get paid for it. IMO, there is better ways to spend merits.

I tend to agree, though as a merit source I wouldn't merit any user as a form of saying thanks or showing appreciation or the like.  IMO campaign managers getting merited in the campaign ANN threads is a poor use of merits, and I get the feeling that sometimes that's done with the hope that it'll increase a member's chances of getting accepted, but who knows.

Eh, within limits I'd say.  There are definitely bad uses of the merit system, e.g., selling merits and helping friends/alts rank up regardless of post quality, but as long as there isn't blatant abuse going on you can do what you want with your own sMerits--including giving them to a bounty manager.

it can be seen as a form of bribery to get accepted too although it's not always the case. / ain't gonna affect most  reputable CMs decision anyway.
I personally don't mind meriting campaign managers and did it few times myself but just because I was interested in the promoted service itself, to show support to a a new CM I trust or when he handles complicated situations (cheating, late payments...) in a professional manner.

Not necessarily true. Probably you don't visit the service section now & then. Almost all the campaign thread receive some merits; from reputed profile as well who don't even bother applying in the campaign. I guess it's for how standard the campaign rules are, how much effective the rules are from forum view etc.

I think some users merit a campaign thread in hopes of being selected as a participant. Kinda basically trying to bribe the manager.

There really is no reason to merit any bounty announcement or signature campaign announcement, but users are going to do whatever they feel like until told to stop.

Sending of merit to bounty managers or OP is not prohibited cause every individuals of the forum can independently send merit to whoever he pleased only if the user is not among the forum merit source members which literally mean he's abusing the merit system.
With that been said, from my own opinion the managers in subject are just been lucky cause no manager in the bounty scheme never make mistake by working for a scam project at some point.

I think users should just give merit if they want to, and sending merit to bounty managers shouldn't be encouraged or discouraged, because it's not like they manage campaigns for merit, they do it for money, so why does it deserve a merit?

What is wrong with ass licking?

An ass can be cleaned very well.

So ass licking itself should be neutral.

much like giving a merit to a nice clean bounty manager.

Now licking filthy dirty asses is undesirable.

So giving merit to a dirty bounty hunter is not good.

So much like ass licking it all matters just how clean the bounty hunter is.

I personally have sent merit to signature campaign posts in the past especially to emerging and potentially good campaign managers. Here is my perspective, It was never about bribery, selection influence or something like that but rather as a form appreciation and encouragement to do better as I never even applied for any of the campaigns.

At the end of the day, I think it depends on someone's intentions but where merit abuse is not involved, you can let it pass because i have also seen clear cut merit abuse situations go unpunished.
