For those who don't know, Ethereum Classic have upgraded it's algo from Ethash to ETChash, still running on dagger hashimoto though but it's been modified, now gpu with 4 gig RAM can keep mining ETC without fearing of DAG issue. Even if you have old gpu with 3gig ram you can mine ETC

etchash is the modified dagger hashimoto used by ethereum classic. it is comparable in it's behaviour to ethereum foundation's ethash but allows for a long-term viability of gpu-mining with cards that have low memory (3gb, 4gb, 6gb) available. this repository contains an overview of the specification, and tries to point to existing implementations of clients, pools, miners, and other tooling relevant for etchash.

Even if there was an issue of about 51% attack for ETC, there are still a lot of miners for this coin? With the newest trends and models for GPUs, there will be a lot of people again that would turn into mining altcoins. There will be a supply and demand issue for GPUs again and the oldest to near latest model will plummet in prices. I'm not a miner and planning to be one soon and mining altcoins is what I can see as a good option for me. But is it a good choice to mine ETC despite the 51% attack issue?

Yes, that news had weeks but it is already a reality.

It would be interesting for those who still have old graphics cards.

It is a strategy of the foundation to further strengthen the Ethereum Classic network.

Bravo ETC! But isn't all this a aim of gathering all Ethereum Hashrates back to ETC? What a clever move from ETC team and even 3GB Graphics card can be used too so no more worries of 4GB RX570 and RX470 going out of business again, those who sold their at 100$ will now end up regretting big time
