It's not all retail traders that are selling, it's only some of them, maybe those that are selling have made a desirable profit and they want to take the profit for spending or to buy again when there is dip but what they fail to understand too is that the dip might not be too much and they could be unlucky to buy at a higher price than they sold. Some people have needs and they sold for some tangible reason, you can not ask them not to sell when they had just the option of selling to meet their need.

this is not the season of true ATH for this cycle. this is just 'new highs'
everyone is waiting for the 2025 ATH season thats predicted to happen in autumn/winter 2025.. so everyone is saving their sats and emotions for later this year

bitcoin has hit an ath a few days ago and i think the community was plenty excited but now bitcoin has declined even tho not that much but still bitcoin is not hitting all time highs continuously. not that it is a bad thing, just pointing out something

we have different strategies some people want to sell at a peak and re-purchase when the market goes down again and there are those who can hold no matter the movement of the market

It seems most of the recent transactions are done over-the-counter. It must involve institutions. Few yet large transactions. The retail market is silent these days. Transaction fees these days, even today, are very low. One could broadcast a transaction paying only as low as 1 Sat/vB. There's no competition on the network. It's a sign that the retail market is sleeping.

By the way, if one is a solid OG who's been in the market for more than a decade, I guess he/she deserves to liquidate some and live life like a king. It's hard to do that right now with Bitcoin only. It doesn't matter whose hands his/her coins end up in.

The future is unpredictable, there is no certainty that those who have sold will no longer have the opportunity to buy at a cheaper price, and those who are still holding will have better profits. Profit depends on capital, investment plan and strategy...not only determined by holding time, not necessarily the longer the holding, the greater the profit.

Investing is for profit and as long as they are happy with that then there is nothing wrong. If you think selling bitcoin at $100k is unwise because the price can reach $200k in the future. Even if you sell for $200k, you will regret it because the price of bitcoin can also increase to $500k or $1 million...is this a vicious cycle and we will never sell our bitcoins?
