Reason for Aliyev's consent to peacekeepers

    It is known that Russia, sending its peacekeepers into foreign borders, pursues one single goal - to subordinate them to its policy, or even to join the empire altogether (1). In this regard, Aliyev's quick consent to the introduction of the Russian army into Karabakh looks very strange, risky and not far-sighted. But I think there are good reasons for that.
    The fact is that Azerbaijan is highly dependent on the export of oil and gas economically. The gas pipeline from Baku to Europe, recently commissioned, is presumably a strong irritant for Moscow, whose economy is also based on the export of hydrocarbons.

 
  Moreover, in the future, it is envisaged to increase the supply of gas through the construction of a trans-Caspian gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Baku, to which Moscow already protested in advance, motivating it to affect the legitimate interests of Russia. And this is nothing more than an open threat (2,3), not only to the independence of Azerbaijan, but, which is important for Aliyev, and his government. However, the signed agreement on the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh provides for simultaneous participation in the peacekeeping mission on the part of Turkey, which is already a guarantee to Azerbaijan from Moscow's encroachments.
     In light of the above, the big question is who has lost more Aliyev or Putin, for the presence of a NATO country, which is Turkey, will cool the so-called "legitimate interests" of Russia both in the Caucasus and the Caspian.

I agree with your opinion, but I have another version of why Aliyev agreed to peacekeepers from Russia. Let's imagine that the Azeybarjan liberated Nagorno-Karabakh completely. What's next? The Armenians will not calm down and will constantly fire at the Azerbaijanis. Declare war on Armenia? The world community will not accept this. And this fast war will grow into a long and protracted military conflict. And now, on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, there will be Russians. The Armenians will not shoot at the Russians. That's it, the war is over. Now almost all of Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. And five years later, when Erdogan reconciles Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Russians will be politely asked to go home.
