Human-Readable crypto addresses - Custom usernames

I introduced crypto to a friend of mine as of late, and while I explained everything to him he asked me the following question:

Why are these "DBe81Titn69WPFYUMnBtLd2JeSrYAs6nKs" crypto addresses so inconvenient. Being forced to copy/paste it every time you have to send funds to it, or if you're real fancy, make use of QR codes.

He basically told me he thought the whole concept of these addresses is rather stupid and should be fixed, and I agree to some extend.
I did some research and found that the DIVI project is working on this exact problem. You can pick a customized username like "Jackson22", which is easy to remember, and fast to type.

Now the only problem I see with this is scammers trying to impersonate famous people like Elon Musk, picking a username that looks like him, but apart from that, it would be way easier to ask a buddy to send you XXX amount of crypto.

You can label your address in most core wallets, which makes it easier to find the right address, but imagine Twitch/Youtube streamers who could easily adopt this rather than displaying a stupid QR code on the screen. They could actually have a small text in the corner of the screen saying. "If you like my content, feel free to donate crypto to <Twitch-Username-Here>

I've been using crypto since 2014, and never really thought about this, but it makes sense to make addresses shorter. Thoughts?

Well basically to accomodate large number of addresses, almost infinite permutations with such a long string.
There is a way around it however, known as ENS, where you can basically use something like jackson.eth to represent your 0x wallet address.
Keep in mind, that this is like a domain naime, and you rent it on a yearly basis. So if it expires, and you send funds to jackson.eth, it'll be lost

I agree. They should be easy to type and memorize. The current long addresss can be quite intimating to use especially for the new users. Problem like that could easily be solved within Wallets.  You could have a Wallet provider with lots of users who can simply send people their usernames and get them to send them coin through thesame wallet provider. Users should be able to also buy and sell crypto within the wallet, so they don't ever have to worry about sending crypto to the long address from another wallet.
I guess the wallet provider could prevent impersonation or identity theft by requiring users with names of popular people to prove they are really the popular personalities. Those that share thesame names with the popular personalities could just choose different usernames so that many people don't get misled into thinking they are the popular ones.

You can create addresses started with anh specific name, words and that's vanity address. You can generate as you want but when the words are longer than usual, it takes more time to find the exact name.
And for your info, none of the addresses will have l(L) and i.
