what do you mean by break up?

As i see in the announcement thread they are all active and given always update to the community  about the project.

Owh ok so you are referring in the hardfork that will happen in aeternity.

From where did you hear that? there is nothing happen with the development team and Aeternity community.
It was just Aeternity face their third hardfork after went mainnet.

Yuppp that's what I meant, the hardfork.

What caused it?? Generally speaking, there could be a conflict between community and the development team...

The hardfork is an update to the protocol, it is not about conflict between the community and the team.
The reason for the hardfork was ERC20 tokens that were not migrated in time to the mainnet, with it the users now can claim their tokens that were not migrated in time or sent the token by mistake to the migration contract.

The hardfork is not always caused by the conflict but it looks like in AE the hardfork has already deployed caused by the protocol needs some improvement. You must read it carefully and as far as i know AE has already done fortuna and minerva hardfork to improve the protocol.

If you are thinking if the hardfork means the team will be splitting just like bitcoin community and it's really wrong for you to think about that.

You must read these announcement

https://blog.aeternity.com/%C3%A6ternity-blockchains-first-hardfork-and-minerva-release-3efbbe39a723
https://blog.aeternity.com/the-fortuna-hard-fork-coming-in-june-d96786043bb6

Those updates have been giving improvements to the platform.

there will be no conflict in AE. hardfork is needed when you have agreed with the community to deploy the improvement proposal into the protocol.

^^ Right, you can read about their hard fork here:

https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/11/05/1940811/0/en/%C3%86ternity-Blockchain-Developers-Take-on-Ethereum-with-Final-Hardfork.html
Quote
LIECHTENSTEIN, Nov. 05, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The core development team for Æternity, a next-generation, open-source blockchain for building decentralized applications, today announced its LIMA hardfork, releasing the latest software to miners and in fact, handing over governance to the community. The third major æternity protocol upgrade this year, LIMA adds a sophisticated, improved Virtual Machine, governance, and naming system to challenge Ethereum and other blockchain platforms. Æternity is one of the most active blockchain developer communities measured by code activity. Core developers proposed hardfork, LIMA software release to miners, who will mine or not mine fork of aeternity blockchain.

The LIMA protocol upgrade introduces the Fast Æternity Transaction Engine, or FATE, a Virtual Machine optimized for æternity smart contracts. This powerful Virtual Machine outperforms other blockchain networks with better efficiency and 10 times less gas consumption, giving developers the advantage of low fees, even when scaling quickly.

This upgrade delivers improvements to state channels, which the æternity network relies on to power scalability. Built into æternity’s first layer, opening a lightweight state channel is a simple transaction, with computation completed by a trusted node. Once set up, state channel users do not need to pay fees or spend gas to execute smart contracts and transactions. All communications are private until published on-chain in the case of a dispute or after the closing of the channel.

But I'm not sure about the break up though, if they did, the project is still running and even improved and even says that they outperformed other blockchain, with less gas (very good). So they might be looking to compete with Ethereum's 2.0 next year.

Ok I see, thx for the info bro

I also read an article says that AE handover governance to the community after LIMA hardfork.

Hello!

Guys, all is fine with aeternity. The project (and the whole ecosystem) is moving forward.

There where three scheduled hardforks in 2019, and all were performed without a problem. Those significantly improved the capabilities of the network.

In September there was even a major event dedicated to the ae ecosystem. Visit the YouTube channel to watch all the dev and entrepreneur-related talks.

Have a look at this blog post for some of the most interesting developer highlights.

Finally, visit the AENS (integrated naming system) website to learn how you can reserve a .chain name. It is now possible to send tokens to anyname.chain addresses (directly from the mobile Base aepp) instead of the standard ak_W7vJeKZZZ5r29sJj4TBMDx6xhirnJ5rsFPUD6TgQoPeQ3fDuq.

There is so much going on! Smiley Maybe also have a look at this Bitcoin Whitepaper Birthday special, discussing aeternity's advantages.

If you have any questions - let me know!

After the first three planned hard forks of æternity network namely Minerva (March 2019) Fortuna, (June 2019) and Lima (October 2019) the core dev team has been continuously working on improving the network and after those three previously defined updates, this will be the first not previously planned update which changes consensus rules and therefore will be conditioned by a positive community vote.

The whole æternity community has the chance to vote on the Iris Hard Fork, also known as Release 6.0. As with any hard fork, this is an important crossroad in the journey of æternity, and it is essential that as many of us as possible have a say in directing which way our blockchain is going to go.
