Once ETH is out of the picture ( 100% on PoS ) few graphic cards like 1660 will suffer because they are actually very good for ETH mining only, unlike 3060 and those with HBM2 graphic cards which I believe are good for other algorithms

I will buy them cheap and many others will do because they are also doing great at almost 15 Mhsh in Kawpow algorithm and you can mine RVN-Ravencoin with them for a long time to come. That will be the best use case of them but also mining ETC,ERGO and other algorithms which will be a first choice once ETH goes into PoS,so based on this they may not be that cheap as we like but I hope they will be.

Mining with GPU is not going to end, all that power will move to another coin.

budget gamers might buy them because there are no other choices on the market with sufficient power and efficiency due to the bad supply, at least in one or two years. in addition to that, there's no guarantee that there will be new coins that can be mined with them.

I thought that my RX 470 4GB video cards would become useless in Q4 2020 and for this reason I sold more than half. It was my mistake, because the remaining video cards are now giving a good profit and they have successfully mined Ethereum before.

You can still use gtx1660 for mining ravencoin and ergo coin and it's even going to make more sense if the graphic cards become cheaper which will make it a better choice for raven coin and ergo

You will see alooooooottt used dirty cheap cards Smiley

Was there ever a time since crypto was born where there was a huge supply of cheap GPUs? I don't think so. Ive been around for the 2014-15 and 2018-19 bear markets where mining was highly unprofitable and there was no deals to be had on eBay or Craigslist. The only deals you might see are dead GPUs or GPUs with bad fans, maybe sold for a slight discount.

However gamers think that there is always a huge supply of old mining GPUs and they going around annoying the hell out of me on Craiglist and basically sending messages like "I know you mined with this Rx 470, i will give you $20 CASH, today!". And usually within a couple of weeks I Would sell that GPU to someone else for $100-$125.

When it comes to unprofitable ASICs its different. There are $20 old Antminers out there. However cheap GPUS? I don't think so.

You are wrong, take a look at whattomine website and use the calculator yourself, it shows that 1660 cards are profitable for mining firo coin after ETH and the reward is few cents different

It was in my area where rx 470-480-570-580 come down to 80-130$ range, and also i got 10 rx 480 8gb from ebay for 600$+34$ for shipping (it was 2020 around march or april).yes it was used but in good shape.
and i saw gtx 1080ti were 300-450$ range.
1660S was 200-300 Range.
In 2017 bullmarket rx 580 was 600$. Now think where 600$ and where is 100$

Even now if you look into short period of time i see good drop in prices, not my target but still trend going down. every month i write down prices for gpus. in my area 3070 dropped price from 2000$ to 1200$. It all looks to BTC price. Once we enter BTC 20k-28k range you will see better prices than july, especially when eth saying about London update.

And if BTC recovers over 40k what do you think will happen? ETH will be out of picture in August max but other coins will take the lead so GPU price might surge again unless there is more supply, the reason why GPU price are fair lately is china

Chinese people are getting rid of their GPUs and ASIC miners, that's enough to make GPUs available worldwide and at affordable price since the GPUs aren't new again,I bought some and they are pretty good no issue, BTC and crypto market will have to dump alot to see popular cards like rx580 and 1660 at 150$ to 200$ again

RX 580 4 GB cards are already at 200 USD at most of the online retail stores. While they can't mine Ethereum they can mine Ethereum Classic and Ravencoin which both are profitable to mine if you have low energy cost. These cards together with 1660 which is not down in price yet but I think it will be soon will become viable cards for small budget miners or for hobbyist who just want to start in crypto mining.

Then it means i was wrong if BTC closes weekly above 40.5k and again all will be expensive again which good im wrong because bull continues and we live happy little more Smiley. But history never mistaken lets follow it and see.

In my country, they are not sold in stores, in secondary markets the price is from 250 dollars for used video cards.
And even with such a price, the payback period is 6-7 months, but very unclear prospects for mining in the future, if you have expensive electricity prices.
And for the last 5 years, these have been the top-end video cards in terms of reliability and payback.

Eth will not go to pos very soon 🔜 My guess is not in 2022 but 2023.

The 6gb dag will be here in 2023 and I think 🤔 eth may finally go Pos around Oct 2023.

I just read on news this morning that the fork will be postponed 😂 due to some issues in the network, Ethereum is at it again they always do this in the past and it's still the same old them hahaha, I'm guessing they've postponed to next year, happy mining people
