If I send multiple payments to the same bitcoin address, it overwrites what I entered in the description field each time.

For example.

I send 3 separate payments to the same wallet and enter a unique description for each payment in the description field.

 payment description 1
 payment description 2
 payment description 3

When I reload the wallet and it syncs, it will then update all 3 payments and change the description to this.

 payment description 3; payment description 2; payment description 1


Why does it do that and how can I disable it?  I can't find any option for it.  Thanks in advanced.

Do you mean it shows like this below on the history tab after the sync?



Or you made the transaction on "pay to many" with a description but after you made the transaction you only have one description?

I think if it's in your history tab you can just manually edit it just right-click then edit the description. There is no option to disable it.

Afaik, Electrum shows transactions in the history tab in a chronological order (depending on their date of confirmation). The most recent will always appear on the top. Their labels doesn't matter.
Besides, the label/description is linked to the transaction ID not to the address you are sending to. So, I suppose only the order in which the transactions appear did change, right? If yes, then this shouldn't be a problem as long as each transaction still show the description assigned to it.

Did all three the payments merged into one transaction?
Because that will happen if "Batch RBF transaction" and "Use replace-by-fee" are enabled in the settings,
then you created the second and third transactions while the others are still unconfirmed.

If not, and just the 'descriptions', you can use this workaround:
  • After sending the first transaction, delete its associated invoice from the 'send' tab, then send the second transaction.
  • Repeat what you just did for the third transaction.

For the already-created transactions, just edit their descriptions in the 'history' tab.

Yes, this is in the History tab

Each payment sent is still listed separately (not combined) only the descriptions are combined.  I have been manually editing the description and once I do, it saves it from then on.  However it's annoying to figure out what a payment from 1-4 weeks ago was for. 

"Batch RBF transaction" is disabled
"Use replace-by-fee" is enabled

Thanks for the suggestion nc50lc, but I normally don't send multiple payments at a time.  Normally it's weeks apart, I was just using that as an example above. 

I guess I'll just have to continue to edit the description each time. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion nc50lc, but I normally don't send multiple payments at a time.  Normally it's weeks apart, I was just using that as an example above.  
That (the second suggestion) will work even if the transactions are weeks apart.

It happens because the description in the previous invoice concatenates with the new one if the "pay to" address is the same.
By deleting the previous invoice before proceeding to the next, the new transaction wont include the previous' description.

Note: If you already sent the transaction, now unconfirmed/confirmed in the 'history' tab, it's okay to delete the invoices in the 'send' tab.
The 'invoices' are the "send queue" below the send tab.

I think OP is faced with this kind of similar problem



In this case, all the 2 out going transactions description had "Binance.com" but upon reloading the wallet the transaction description for each transaction in the history tab is now showing "Binance.com; Binance.com"

Now imagine if the 2 transactions had different descriptions like "Rent bills" and "Hospital Bill" on reloading, each transaction description ends up as "Rent Bills; Hospital Bill" which confuses the user if they want to do some record keeping.

I don't know if it's a bug or some mistake from my side,  but it happens to me also sometimes.

Yeah, it's actually the same address involved in all the outgoing transactions, but my send tab is clear. Whenever I send out a new transaction, I don't see any previous payment invoice there, and I don't see any right now

It even gets worse in the mobile app  Cheesy

Yeah, the second screenshot is of the mobile version. It was v4.1.2, but I just updated it to v4.1.5. However, no change on how the description is being displayed. I will send out another transaction and see how it behaves.

On the desktop version, I would see the payment invoice which gets cleared after sometime. I have never cleared it manually, but each time I create a new transaction. I don't see the previous payment invoice under the send tab.
