I recently downloaded 22.0 from
https://bitcoin.org/en/download but now it is unclear to me how I can verify the download. For example when I follow instruction online see
https://askubuntu.com/questions/53519/how-do-i-verify-the-pgp-downloaded-signature-of-the-truecrypt-setup-file-with-se I end up with unsuccessful validation of the download.
I can't find any information on bitcoin.org on how to verify a download. Assuming the instruction I found is correct this means that SHA256SUMS.asc does not contain a signature for the file I downloaded. With other words, downloads cannot be verified at this point.
How do I verify a download with
https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-22.0/SHA256SUMS.asc and
https://bitcoin.org/laanwj-releases.asc? [myuser:~/Desktop/bitcoin] [2.5.3] 2 $ gpg --verify SHA256SUMS.asc btc-022.tar.gz
