What should you know about “metaverses”?
Have you already heard the word “metaverse”? From time to time, here and there, it appears… and here you go, hearing about it from a Meta (ex-Facebook) presentation and reading about it in crypto forums, as Medium or Reddit every second of your life.
But have you ever thought about what really stands after the word “metaverse”?
Generally, it comes from two words: “meta”, which means transformation, and “verse”, which is consonant with “universe”.
So! Let's ask ourselves - what is actually being transformed in this kind of world?
1. The metaverse itselfMetaverses are immersive three-dimensional virtual worlds that use the metaphor of the real world but without its physical limitations. It gives the cosiness of the real world - seeing, feeling, exploring, but with all benefits of the virtual space, such as quickness in sharing of information and absence of borders. Connected with VR and AR technologies, metaverses can become a healthy and high-quality substitute for life for people.
2. People/avatarsTalking about people, it is worth mentioning that human communication has already been transformed. But metaverses are going to give virtual communication a new beginning. People are already used to appearing in public as their own avatars (even if we are talking about real humanlike avatars), but in metaverses, representation refers not only to the appearance, but also communication with the environment (which may include realistic objects such as desks and office furniture or unrealistic objects such as talking animals).
3. Metaverse technology capabilitiesMetaverses come as a new voice in the area of communication, interaction, coworking, mobility, personalization and much more.
Few examples for you to explore:
- Travis Scott held an unprecedented concert inside the popular video game “Fortnite.”
- Meta represented a future Zoom alternative - virtual rooms for coworking

4. Behaviours and outcomesMetaverses are a new era of the virtual economy. Through the absence of borders and perfect mobility, virtual work and other financial relationships would be open to users from all around the world.

NFTs, which could be taken as “just pictures” now, in metaverses would have a different, more complex meaning - opening the way to new crypto art understanding: in the wat of real assets, what represent the existing, “physical” standard. Especially due to popularising wave of NFTs with additional utility and value.
In a conclusion … Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of META, said, “I believe the metaverse is the next chapter for the internet.”
