There’s been some scam allegations about Paxful and its CEO in the past, I don’t trust them.

What type of scam allegations were thrown at them before? They seem to be big these days even though I don't use them but I think, they've grown over the years.
He's fair to tell the reality about the advantage of custodial and non-custodial wallets. Although, it's not that surprising at all but in fairness to those customers that aren't aware of this, he's spoken up.

I think this is a great marketing strategy from the CEO of Paxful especially about maintaining their customer's trust. Centralized exchange generally give customers assurance that their fund will be held securely, but I'm not entirely sure either way. All exchanges will probably say that, but they can never guarantee 100% security and will compensate when things like hacks happen.

I don't think it is wrong to believe in centralized exchanges to some extent, but it is true that every investor should have custody of their own assets in the long term. The CEO of Paxful said something true, but I think that's how it should be rather than convincing people to forever keep their assets on the exchange.

It would have been better if they design a means that people can exchange their coins without not depending on centralized exchanges. They all started this. But I like that too, I mean how they are promoting self custody.

Especially when operating in the United States, peer-to-peer exchanges that are no-KYC are a huge regulatory nightmare. Operating a centralized platform while convincing people to self-custody is probably the best that they can do.
