Honestly, any domain registrar can be vulnerable to this; the difference is that some have stricter policies against fraud. However, a few don’t enforce such measures, which is why they don’t require admin personal information.

Honestly speacking, I wasn't aware of these details, as i wasnt interested to use them. I assumed that any domain name sold was registered in the name of the buyer, who could later transfer ownership by selling it to another person, with the domain being re-registered in the name of the new buyer. Regarding anonymous services, I imagine this is possible if the company isn't responsible for any potential uses of its products.

From what I've seen, phishing sites are usually registered through different services. I don't know why.

i've been using namesilo for years now... They do require KYC, but you can use privacygaurdian to make sure your name doesn't end up in the whois records. They have their own implementation of crypto payments, which is a bit "basic" and looks a bit dodgy, but it so far it has always worked for me.

I have also been using Namesilo for many years. Due to the registration of some .eu domains, I had to provide my data or the data of the client in whose name I registered them. Later, some users confirmed that they managed to register the domain through Namesilo without providing any personal data. I think bitmover can confirm that too. If I remember correctly, he also registered his domain without KYC there.

I think they are following the lead of Namecheap; they offer up to 70% on domains, and then when you renew it, they increase the price to 200% or even more; this is the catch, so you will prefer to buy on their platform. Good strategy indeed.
I got a TLD domain last year for $3 in their sales and renews it yearly for $15. I have to look for a renewal code to lower the price, but its not really the price but the kind of support Namecheap is giving to their clients; they have one of the best support in the industry.

They offer free SSL the first time you buy the domain; you can ask support to do it for you if you host the domain on their server. I always ask them to do it for me, and they are happy to do it. This is another reason why Namecheap is preferable: free SSL when you buy the domain the first time.

it's not like you need to pay for one these days, you can get one for free anyway with let's encrypt or cloudflare.

saying it's free is just marketing. if it's a paid option, you should just register your domain elsewhere tbh, same with whois protection and other domain protection upsells bs.

And letsencrypt does not offer 24/7 support, so if there's an issue, you need to fix it yourself.

So you're saying you can get support if you buy hosting. That's normal for shared hosting, many webhosts offers that. It's also more expensive than unmanaged hosting.

That is of course totally fine, but you're talking about paid features with a hosting account. This topic was about domain names.

well, i don't think you are going to be able to set this up with namecheap, so don't waste your time trying as i'm pretty sure caddy doesn't work with cpanel.
you could use let's encrypt plugin instead but namecheap doesn't allow installing plugins in shared hosting either.

if you want to save that $7 per domain and don't want to manage your own hosting, you can always route your domains through cloudflare and use their free SSL.

"Caddy" looks like something you'd install on a VPS. I don't think you need it with shared hosting.

I can only add how much I dislike Cloudflare: I've spent many hours of my life looking at their "verifying" page that no doubt collects as much data on me as they can for a few seconds each time. Or, as theymos puts it:
