Thanks, but it still doesn't explain why it works now after uninstalling the old and reinstalling the latest version.
He didn't specified a specific error and there seem to be no issue in his .log file.
Perhaps OP installed multiple instances using "Keep Both", launched v4.4.1 right after install, that essentially upgraded the wallet file as well. (then closed that session)
But somehow, he's still using a shortcut to the older version that caused a "This version of Electrum is too old to open this wallet" error which what he described as "crash".
On macOS, there is no registry like on Windows OS, and the Electrum installation process is different.
Previously, I just tried to explain that, on macOS, users cannot update Electrum while a similar application is running, as I have shown above.
It's different from Electrum running on Windows OS, e.g. in the following cases:
Hello. I can not open Electrum 3.3.8 on my Windows 10 anymore!
I uninstalled and installed Electrum again, many times, but it seems like nothing work.
On Windows Task Manager I can see "Electrum 3.3.8" running on the background but the program never opens. -snip-
It is still possible to install Electrum with various versions on macOS (as long as the Electrum version is still supported), one of which is by selecting the 'Keep Both' option. But even so, only one version of the Electrum application can be run. It cannot be run simultaneously.
Here is an example of Electrum 4.4.0 and Electrum 4.4.2 that I installed on macOS:
Examples of cases that have occurred regarding Electrum cannot be opened on macOS:
Electrum won't open on MacOS Big Sur (macOS 11, OSX 10.16, does not start) #6461And the following case has also happened to me before, but with different versions of macOS:
Crash after exiting - when using HW wallet - on MacOS Monterrey #7738
Edit: I replaced an Imgur link that became an invalid image.
