This type of scam is 4 or 5 years old. I first received such threats in 2017 or 2018, I don't remember exactly. Scammer in all the letters claims to have access to my personal life and compromising files from my computer, but I am well aware that this is a bluff, the usual horror story, which is supposed to scare you and make you part with the money, just so no one finds out your secrets. You can safely put such nonsense in the trash.

Staying private with all your information and cycle of life will save you a lot from unnecessary troubles, Make sure to restrict your connection, limit your online subscription and how you exposed your information to third parties.
Scammers and hackers work with the information you provide them with and don't be greedy to the point that you lose your sense of judgement every time, I am sure that if we apply standards to practice in our online and real life by limiting access to our contacts and info it will reduce scammers access to us.
