According to the news, people have good comments after they converted their PMS generator to LNG generator. One of the man that converted their generator even said if the gas is safe in the kitchen, that it should be safe while using it for genetor.

What the expert said is that people should be careful of leakages. While using gases in the Kitchen, we are careful of leakages. So it is not something new but worth telling the public.

It would be good to also put your gas cylinder far way from your generator.

From the Daily Post Article below, the risk are highly minimal as the author failed to give a detail analysis of same.


I don't know if he is aware that LPG gases are odourized before distributing to homes. This give it the unique smell that make people notice their gas is leaking. Secondly, the author have failed to explain if there is additional risk posed by this conversion other than those we see in cooking arrangement.

Nevertheless, I feel more work still need to be done to ensure the safety and reliability of LPG for generators and vehicle because there will always be but not as posted by this article.

Agreed, you need to put the cylinder at least 6-10 feet away from the generator, and also to be on a safer side, better to use industrial hose than the common ones we always us..

This had actually reduced cost of purchasing fuel and according to them it lasts longer than fuel. But I’m still not convinced enough with people's good comments about its use. Those that invented it could have also thought about using it in this manner but they never did, if it was written in the manual that it’s a 2-way use for it, either gas or fuel, it’s still reasonable to comply. I feel the hazard that comes with using converted generators with gas is highly dangerous and can cause an irreplaceable loss to lives and properties if it escalates. We don’t pray for such to happen and those using it should be extra careful and cautious of the dangers associated with it.

Everything that we do needs precaution so that it can be handled properly. We have being using gas in our houses and people have chosen to be very careful with using gas. Also if we apply this same carefulness when using gas in our generator,it shouldn't be a problem. Continuous practice will make one find various ways to prevent any explosion or fire outbreak. For me I buy this gas idea for generator because it is more cheaper and affordable by PMS. As long as there is no leakage anywhere it is safe.

People wey don run am talk say e make sense and have not heard about any damages yet, but I know say our experts to condemn am now, dey no fit provide better alternatives for people and d one wey people come up with, dem go still condemn am. We know say everything wey we dey use for dis country get risk, so if caution is being applied then things will be fine. Even d petrol wey we dey use get risk, so make e no look like say if u dey use petrol for ur generator everything dey safe be that.

According to what I have read about it, you can convert it back to gasoline generator. According to the ones I have seen before, either it is gas or gasoline. What you mean here can only mean that why cars can not be using both petrol or diesel. Have you seen a car that you can use like that before? Cars can be using petrol, but it can be converted to be using either diesel or gas.

It was not condemned. The topic title is just not accurate and misleading to what is on that news content. It is just like saying people should not use phone in the kitchen and to be careful that the gas is not leaking. The warning in that news is just about leakages.

According to what I have read about it, you can convert it back to gasoline generator. According to the ones I have seen before, either it is gas or gasoline. What you mean here can only mean that why cars can not be using both petrol or diesel. Have you seen a car that you can use like that before? Cars like that are on board, although I haven't seen any of it physically but my browser told me so and I believe it because we are in a morden world and our expirenced engineers are building something we can't tell for now so if our power Generators can use gas and fuel that means cars can also run with fuels and diesels, this are one of the cars engine's that can work perfectly with either fuel or diesel, so if engine's can use both cars can, these are the cars that can work perfect with fuels or diesel.
I can tell that Indians are also having the same petrol issues like we do, so some of them are buying cars that uses fuel or diesel, so that if they don't have money to buy diesel they can buy fuel just like how we use gas on our Generators instead of fuel.

Yes it is same LPG gas and yes it is not bad that people complain but one thing people need to understand is that this procedure is not even dangerous as the cooking gas in the kitchen. Gas is highly flammable but the risk is reduced when it is not in an enclosed container but it is it space that is why major companies that use the deadly propane gas they keep them outside the building for proper ventilation example is glass blowers using propane. According to my research this process is not bad except if people mis use it. People will argue that generator brings out smoke and gets hot and I say to them isn’t cooking gas put on fire during cooking?

Personally I feel this is the best out of the alternatives, although it is growing more adoption and the price is increasing but i would say compare to the amount one would use to buy gasoline or pms regularly for generators, solar is reasonable. The reason why most people find it expensive is because they want Cells that can power the entire house but once you reduce the number of gadgets to be used during its period of usage then 2 cells is ok. But that also is expensive, a cell is 2.5KV to 3KV battery is around 200k Naira and that’s a huge cell to power a house

Solar is not that expensive, but just as your have replied, people thought it is expensive because of the money that is required to setup solar panels and the batteries. The generator I bought 5 months ago, 2.9 KVA maximum capacity was ₦250000 in price. How about the cost of petrol that I will be buying which is another cost. If a solar cost you ₦350000 and you used it for three years, it will supply you more light than ₦350000 generator if the fuel or gas cost is calculated with it. Although, fuel generators have more lifespan.

Hmm that's a good idea but think about local business owners who don't gain enough profits to buy this solar that can power their electronics like fridge's, AC and lot more, the way the country is right now everything is adding money as day passes by so a solar that can power any of this things will be so expensive for some business owners.
The reason why people is converting their fuel generator to LPG gas Generator is because they already have a GENERATOR they were using for business or at home, now think about if any of these people don't have a GENERATOR will they go and buy a GENERATOR that they will convert? No, but they can add the Generator money and the gas carburetor money together so they can buy a new solar for them selfs, but this solar has an issue, we are on a raining season and sometimes rain fall throughout the day and these solar don't charge and we know that if they are not well charged they can't power any of this thing except lights, so this solar energy has a disadvantage, hope I am correct?

You are right. In fact, I have not seen the sun today and everything looks like evening but it is just 2.30 pm. That would be the disadvantage of the solar. August is the worst not to see the sun. But the sunny days will come again. Among all, NEPA/PHCN light is the cheapest. All other means to have access to electricity are costly. But among all, I still see solar to be the next cheapest if comparing it to fuel generators. The cost to setup solar is the reason that discourage many people which Zaguru12 pointed to and I think he is correct, but also that the lifespan may discourage people.
