I'm thinking of building a 12 x GPU rig, 8 of which will be running CryptoNight for Electroneum, 4 of which will be running Lyra2REv2 for Vertcoin.
All 12 of which could also be used for running Ethash to get Ethereum probably.
The equipments are on their way and I will be setting it all up in the next few weeks.
Would this work out alright?

Yes you can, just set up gpu indexes in the miner programs.
For example if you have 3 cards 1st miner -di 012 2nd miner -di 345

Like the above person saying, you can set it up in a way where you can force the cards to mine a specific coin, but it needs lots of work. First you need to know the order of the cards for that RIG, if you are using same cards for whole rig it should be fine, you just say the numbers, if you are using different card type then you should be careful while over clocking based on the order. I still think you will end up with same yield even you mine different coins at same time with same rig or mining multiple coins. Its hard to maintain that way! just my 2 cents,

It is possible. Are these cards all the same or different? If they are the same, I would recommend just sticking to one coin at a time. As someone else pointed out, you will be dealing with different overclock settings and having to monitor multiple monitors. This does however make sense if you are using a a variety of cards. For instance when I started mining I had 2 gtx 1080s and 1 gtx 1060. I had the 1060 mining ETH and the 1080s mining LBRY. Some cards are better with certain algos.

Oh right, my rig is gonna be 8 AMD cards, and 4 NVIDIA cards! ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) Will that be a massive problem? How do I manage my devices? Can't I do it all on one monitor and use dummy plugs whilst managing the overclocking?

It is possible, but the complexities listed by other users add additional (and mostly hidden) costs that you may want to avoid.

most importantly, do not start to mine on the same rig with the processor and hard - it will start to breathe fire)

Okay, but how do I set them up? Any ideas where I can get a guide? I'm decent with hardware, I built my own PCs since I was 12, but I've never tried moderating or managing GPUs. Just always settled with one good GPU for gaming, that was it lol

Don't try mining Cryptonight AND Ethash on the same GPU since both algorithms are very "memory hard". You'll see very poor hashrates on both sides of that idea.

Do you mean that I shouldn't do it simultaneously? I was thinking more that I'll give it a rest and switch it from CryptoNight to Ethash, would that be okay?

I run a cpu and an amd on nicehash doing cryptonight I then run a second instance for the 2 nvidia cards for zec on one I check the cpu and the amd on the other check the nvidia but in the end they all become btc

Should I order AMD ones then? Also, would it be easier to run 8 of the AMD cards on CryptoNight, and then the other 4 running Ethash? I'm guessing that it'll still be better than having a mix of both AMD and NVIDIA on one rig?

I do this all the time. Not sure what the dig deal is
In claymore you add -di 0123, to indicate the first 4 gpu’s will mine that. The you can start another instance of claymore with -di 4567 for the next 4 cards to mine whatever else you want.

i think OP knows what hes saying confidently and experienced he got my attention and now i want to do it mining two coins using single rig. I have heard this thing beffore but what bothers me is the risk of making fire But with this thread i am fully convinced

What Are The Benefits of Mining with Two GPUs? Mining with two GPUs offers several advantages. First, it allows you to increase your mining power, which can result in higher profits. Additionally, mining with two GPUs can help reduce the amount of electricity used, as two GPUs can use less power than one GPU. Finally, mining with two GPUs can help reduce the amount of noise generated, as two GPUs can generate less noise than one GPU.

For a long time, no one has been collecting a mining rig from a GPU with 2 video cards. At least 5-6 video cards, because the cost of other components also affects the payback. And the more video cards are in the mining farm, the faster the payback of all equipment. Usually the cost of additional components is divided by the number of video cards and this figure is added to the cost of the video card for payback calculations.
