Shall we reorganize the Wiki?

Since that year I have had the privilege of having editing access. But, despite having already contributed (a little) something, I feel Wiki is too disorganized to be able to have the desire to do more.

Therefore, I would like to invite everyone or be able to give their opinion on what can be done to start organizing the wiki.

I know @NotATether is also an editor, so he can agree that it needs organizing.

So, for you, what were the first adjustments that could be made?

I think it will help responses if we can know which suggestions to make. From the other thread on this board there are some pages that can only be edited by admins and others that can be changed by those with edit privileges.

So, do we make all suggestions here and then filter what can be fixed and what will take longer and/or need someone else's attention to?

It's difficult now for me to know all the pages I can or cannot edit. So we really have to analyze it case by case. Especially because I believe that most of the information to be improved can be changed by the editors.

Therefore, I think they put here all the suggestions that they find practical. Then we will see what we can do and establish priorities according to each case.

That can work, and you can maybe edit the op to include what fixes has already been made, so it can be reviewed later on if needed.

One more thing, I know this is the appropriate board for this, but it rarely gets visitors. Moving this thread to service discussion could get more responses and suggestions.

That is true. But, perhaps it would be better on the Bitcoin board. Or not?
This is not a service, we are talking about the Bitcoin Wiki.

I think it broadly fits as a service but it also fits in Bitcoin discussion and will get ample visibility and responses there too.

When in doubt where a thread should be I usually suggest the person reports to the mods to decide, but in this case with the thread already in the right board, that will not help.

The most ignored part was how people who wanted to edit could get the edit privileges. They mostly kept on posting in an old thread that was dead and ignored because of the misleading instruction. I am glad the admin has made some changes to that

Since the Bitcoin wiki seems to be ignored by most senior forum members and is still a darling to newbies and guest users. I suggest maybe some proofreading or editing competitions for merits?
Like anyone who can point out some wrong or outdated information can report it to a dedicated thread for a few merits. This can give motivation to some members who are less interested in reading through Bitcoin wiki

I would certainly makje some changes and mention Bitcointalk forum somewhere in Bitcoin wiki.
Last time I checked there was not a single word about this or any other forum related with bitcoin.
I don't have wiki account and I don't plan creating one now, but I do use it often.

I don't know which board could suitable and yet again gain more exposure. Beginners and help seems to be good for exposure, but since Bitcoin Wiki has a dedicated board. I think the moderators will move it to this board in no time.

- We might also need a couple of merit sources to help out with the merits.
- To combat account farming, account age could also be put into consideration, but this might be a challenge since so many newbie accounts have been trying to get wiki edit permissions.

I would accept to be one of the editors, but not at the moment, since I am a little unreliable because I am periodically on and off the forum lately. However, any time I get myself sorted and settled out here. I will let you know.
