This topic is not to insult or downplay the efforts of our governments but to state my observation based on the little research I did and also ensure we look at the opportunities presented by cryptocurrency in a broader perspective.

By youths I mean students and fresh graduates. These clarification is necessary so we could streamline the discussion to get a better conclusion.

I have searched through most jobs posting websites and editorials, most of the jobs posted has 5-10 years working experience as requirement. Meaning they were not posted for the youths and fresh graduates. Last year I went to Federal Civil Service Commission headquarters, I was shocked to see that none of their employee fall within my description of youths, their jobs are mainly shared among the high and mighty and never posted for the public and even when they do, it is just for formalities. Same thing was seen at Podium block Rivers State where you will hardly find a fresh graduate or young person working actively unless few of them working as erand boys and girls to the big shots.

Now let's see how cryptocurrency made the difference.
I don't think there is anyone that will argue that majority of people into cryptocurrency in Nigeria are the youths under the category of students, fresh graduates and those who graduated but due to unemployment or being underemployed, they chose cryptocurrency to support the poor pay. Some of the ways youth make a living from cryptocurrency in Nigeria include but not limited to :

  • Merchant in Exchanges: I have many numbers of merchants I trade with on p2p of some exchanges, I saved them and view their WhatsApp status where the also advertise their businesses and I was shocked to realised that majority of them are still in the universities.
  • Crypto Trading: Majority of the crypto traders I know are youths.  This can be easily verified when you join some of the trading groups around both in WhatsApp and Telegram. I'm in many of them and I happen to know a good number of young guys who are actively trading even when they are still in the universities
  • Cryptocurrency Mining: Although Bitcoin mining is not really that big in Nigeria, a lot of Nigerian youths are actively mining in small scale. Not only Bitcoin but other coins. I got to know the huge interest of people in mining through Pi Network that many youths mined in large quantity. For several weeks, Pi Network was a dominant trend in Twitter Nigeria
  • Bitcointalk: I think a good number of Nigerians in this forum are students and young graduates. Many are earning through different means like bounties, airdrops, signature, contests and others.

If you add the various ways cryptocurrency have created jobs for students and the youths, you will agree with me that our goverment are far behind in terms of employment creation for the youths and stduents. As a matter of fact, i do think there is even provision for students job as it is in some parts of the world... here is always graduation before getting a job.

Op, this are true Crypto currency has opened Job opportunity for Nigerians, here are some others which has really provided a source of living for Nigerians
Airdrop & Bounties: In as much as this looks there are alot of Nigerians who depend on this especially students, as a source of living and these include NFT minters  they try to build their own community for this job usually on  Whatsapp, X formerly Twitter and Discord.

  • Merchant in Exchanges: I have many numbers of merchants I trade with on p2p of some exchanges, I saved them and view their WhatsApp status where the also advertise their businesses and I was shocked to realised that majority of them are still in the universities.
The number of Nigerians living on this business makes it possible that the government can not put an end to exchanges in Nigeria though they might be able to stop foreign exchanges but this can not stop and its among the main influence of crypto currency adoption in Nigeria.

Quote
  • Crypto Trading: Majority of the crypto traders I know are youths.  This can be easily verified when you join some of the trading groups around both in WhatsApp and Telegram. I'm in many of them and I happen to know a good number of young guys who are actively trading even when they are still in the universities
To be frank though we know that HODLing is better than trading there are still quite alot of crypto traders in Nigeria while majority of traders here are forex traders focusing on fiat currency pairs

Quote
  • Cryptocurrency Mining: Although Bitcoin mining is not really that big in Nigeria, a lot of Nigerian youths are actively mining in small scale. Not only Bitcoin but other coins. I got to know the huge interest of people in mining through Pi Network that many youths mined in large quantity. For several weeks, Pi Network was a dominant trend in Twitter Nigeria
This is not an actual cryptocurrency mining, i will rather classify mining of coins like Pi, ice and the likes as Airdrop because no computational power is being used here. though we have actual miners of bitcoin and possibly altcoins in Nigeria using ASIC machines and the likes while being  few but are still making a living from it.

If you add the various ways cryptocurrency have created jobs for students and the youths, you will agree with me that our goverment are far behind in terms of employment creation for the youths and stduents. As a matter of fact, i do think there is even provision for students job as it is in some parts of the world... here is always graduation before getting a job.

for a while now, we've not seen news of job vacancies that's created by the state or federal government. Even in the past when there were instances when state governor do take employment of youths seriously, it's mostly in the teaching and security sector that end of favouring just a selected few that are almost frustrated at life and just want to put themselves in any position that will bring them some Cash.

Cryptocurrency on the other hand has liberated a lot of youth from looking after these two sectors that's the only option that's available for young Nigerian and it saddens me a lot that it is getting this kind of criticism from the same people that couldn't do what it's currently doing. If you take away the population of youths that are in the crypto sector out and you add them to the number of unemployed youths, you will find out that almost 80% of youth aren't employed. What's annoying is that our leaders are yet to understand that times have changed and all these side hustle are what's collectively going to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country and in the process reduce the rate of poverty that's now very evident in the country.

Jobs in Nigeria now is once in 20 years. It was in 2011, I noticed legit employment in my state and since then I have not heard anything until I finished school (College) in 2015 and in 2016 NPOWER came that many Nigeria Youths benefited from it, the purpose of that programme was good because when Osibanjo was in charge, everything was moving fine it was when Buhari put Sadia that everything went wrong. And she embezzled a lot rod funds and today she dey EFCC net.

And last year August Teachers Employment came out in my state and written exams and oral exams were conducted this year March till now nothing dey happen. Employment in Nigeria now na who know who and not by merit but by nepotism and favoritism. And because of all these things people dey tok say SCHOOL NA SCAM and not really means say going to school na scam but after going school with di certificate, no job, no work and now e don become a scam.

If no be bitcoin many youths would been in di lower class struggling what to eat daily but because of the cryptocurrency investment, trading, airdrops and other cryptocurrency activities, di youth, become self employed and do online businesses to survive without the government jobs again but the government is envy dat is fighting against those places wey di youth dey take dey eat. Di government e no mean well for the youth but to see them suffering.

I disagree with you op,  government created more Jobs than cryptocurrency in Nigeria, just that you didn't carry out a good research to know the numbers of youths who are currently working in government organizations despite the 5 or 10 years experience graduates they are looking which is a normal thing every employer will demand from employees and they are doing well more than some cryptocurrency investors in Nigeria.

There are some government vacancy jobs in some universities, polytechnins, college of education and other government organizations who are correcting looking for sound  fresh graduates to occupy some position in the institution sectors, and those that have the qualifications has be accepted to carry out their professional career in the organizations.

Don't forget that cryptocurrency have be banned in the country, and some youths making money from cryptocurrency investment are doing it in a illegal way which you cannot include cryptocurrency as payment in your transaction, and government agencies in the country are still looking for way to close the small jobs cryptocurrency has created in the country, but I know it will be difficult for government to close all the way cryptocurrency investors use to earn for a living in the country.

I will not agree with your topic title, but I will say that the youths in Nigeria have provided jobs for themselves more than the government has done recently, especially in this Era of cryptocurrency. This is because most youths now are aware of the benefits of investing in bitcoin and how trading works which they have keyed into it as a means of survival, neglecting the government incapable of providing them with jobs. The reason why youths who are into cryptocurrency will prefer it to a government job is because, you don't need any office that you wake up to or have a Boss controlling you. You stay at home and trade at your own convenience. Moreover, government jobs in Nigeria salaries are poor compared to the high level of inflation. Most government jobs required fresh graduates, only in a field that cannot be handled by fresh graduates which needs experience.

As a matter of fact, i do think there is even provision for students job as it is in some parts of the world... here is always graduation before getting a job.
Nigeria government does not believe in students working and at the same time going to school, and this is why you see that jobs have various level of qualifications. The reason is because Nigeria government work starts from 8am - 4pm, a student will not be able to face his studies and at the same time be able to work this long in one day. It is possible in other countries because they have jobs that are paid by hour, and those are the jobs for students. A student can only work during the holidays, with a private company.

You should also note that in those foreign countries where students work, their courses are flexible and not as much as ours in Nigeria. For here you fit attend class from 8am - 4pm nonstop.

Cryptocurrency may not have created more jobs for the youths but it is interesting thing about it is that it has created an opened earning opportunities for the masses by which none is limited to invest or participate on those tasks such as you OP have earlier mentioned to earn crypto currency such as Bitcoin for the rewards.

So far so good cryptocurrency invention has seem to give an infinite reliability that anyone in a global range can adopt and earns income without hoping on the government by buying and holding for investments purposes of yielding profits in time.
It has as much paved a pathway by which even the vulnerables can as much Invest and holds for retirements goal since the government can not be relied on.

It has as much served as a unifying network to connecting people all rounds the World basically for economy and entrepreneurship purposes.

Yes apart from the specifications you made I do not agree that cryptocurrency have created more job opportunity for the youths than government however, regardless of the fact that our government haven't really created much employment opportunities for the youths but they tried in the area of teaching Jobs because it has also aided the average youth to at least have a job to count on.

Yes for sure students and fresh graduates have been the major force in the quest for a crypto friendly environment because a lot of them have been beneficiaries of cryptocurrencies so there is no doubt about that but you need to understand that Nigerians are still babies in the crypto industry because what we are benefiting from cryptocurrency now is just 'a piece of iceberg' or rather 'peanuts' while the major dividends that comes from cryptocurrency, we have not really enjoyed it because our government is not crypto friendly and we don't have famous hodlers and majority of the crypto enthusiasts in the country are anonymous so it will be hard to convince the larger force to engage in cryptocurrency because of fear of the government.

You get point there and I no disagree with this one you bring up but you sef suppose know say some of these govt jobs, nah connection them dey take secure am. Many youths for no dey complain say jobs no dey if to get am dey easy, a I you no see am so? Crypto currencies don give many people, especially the youths the opportunity to dey self reliant and take their minds off other unhealthy things and this one no need a required amount of work experience wey these government jobs dey find.
Make we call a spade a spade, sometimes nah be say we government no fit use the procurement of jobs lure some youths thanks to the emergence of crypto currencies nai make them dey find way to stop or hinder it's growth for the country because if them no fit get where to use hold you, wetin Dem wan use again?

Job now for Nigeria na war ooo, since I commot for school self I never even apply for any work, even my original certificate still Dey with school I never collect am, because even if I collect am e no get use. If you no get better connection now, my brother government job go hard you, even before wey I Dey hear say dem Dey sell job, but even now to see legit person wey wan sell Dey hard, na high rank people just Dey share am give each other now.

Cryptocurrency don help plenty youths for dis country ooo, I just Dey imagine how things go hard for youths if cryptocurrency no Dey. Plenty people Dey wey no even get any other job na crypto dem depend on, even me na cryptocurrency and other online jobs na him I Dey run, because I don even lose hope for government job. Na why everything wey the government wan do, they no fit ban crypto for dis country, people go definitely get how dem go Dey run am. some guys wey some people go think say na yahoo dem Dey do, some na crypto dem Dey do but people no go just understand.

Aside from this means dem way you don mention you also need add the promotional job and ambassadorship opportunity way them they also create they give us, I don work for one crypto platform before as their ambassador and also their marketing head for few social media way them the pay me on a weekly basis and eh they help me make small small earning why I get other things way I they do  way the job nature no they even affect am for one day, as student self you fit they class that small free time you get you fit still use am finish up the task way you suppose fulfill for that day.

Crypto space don create more job opportunities to our youth more than the government for ever fit provide give them and with the small small money way many people way they successful for the business they make them still don use am establish one or two way them go also still employ others way no get job from their them don reduce small number of unemployed youth for the country.

I totally agree with all you have said so far but you saying that after graduating from school and nothing to work, say school don become scam. I don't really agree with this one oo because anything wey make you go school, graduate and come back don give you greater and bigger advantage to people wey no go because the experience wey you don get people wey no go school no fit get am even if them dey do well and if a graduate should engage themselves in that same particular thing they will do exploit, I mean better. If you check well for this forum we get people wey be graduate and people wey no be graduate and those people wey be graduate the way dey understand the forum based on how they think dey very different from person wey no be graduate and if you check their threads sometimes you go confuse because of the grammar and sentence arrangements, so I can never agree that school is a scam.

Its true nah, cryptocurrency has been of help to our majority of youths today, especially me, ever since I had the knowledge and the understanding of Bitcoin, my life change for the best, whatever thing I want, I get it and life has be easier for me and my family's including my loved ones whom i introduced crypto to and knowing about crypto makes me look different from other people who don't know about it and anywhere they are discussing about cryptocurrency, I'm so glad to involve myself.
Cryptocurrency has really help the government relieve some stress for them by providing job opportunities for us but I don't know why the government don't really like to hear or do anything with cryptocurrency.

Op all you stated is nothing but the reality of what crypto currency has done, today many are on their comfort zone working, either mining, trading, investing by accumulating BTC or any coin they felt is favourable in all of this activities is really changing life financially. When you consider the time factor it saved to que in bank and other activities that many transaction we do in bank that is been taken care of one we noticed that crypto currency has done alot to be welcomed not only in the side of employment Creation but saving of time and life mostly the way our society runs in not considering the value of life especially the bank system of operations where one spend hours to deposit money and same hours to withdraw or run transaction and most time you end with incomplete transmission of no money in the bank.

To cut the whole thing short mostly our nation where unemployment has hit so high the youth are still survive with conflict of war this is just as a result of crypto as all attention and sourcing of money is focused on it thereby feeling no impact of the society pain if employment.

With the little knowledge I have, I think I may agree more with what OP mentioned above but may not be completely true to say the Cryptocurrencies give more employments than the  government. The claim that the government employs more could be true if we probably have more facts including the number of casual public workers and third party appointments such as the political appointments. Sometimes in 2023, we had the opportunity to look at the total number of public servants in the country through the IPPIS scheme which amounted to 720,000 individuals. From then till now, there are more people employed by the government of Nigeria.

This number is outside those that are working in the state government and local governments as well as the casual staffs and political appointees. By the time we sum up everything, you have a workforce of millions of individuals engaged directly and indirectly by the government from the federal, state and local governments. In a country like Nigeria, where we are battling with a non-consistent and overburdened economy, having a large  number of people already engaged by the government is a good effort. Only that in countries like Nigeria, the efforts of the government is never enough because of the population and standard of living in the country.

According to a statistics by Triple A, a crypto company founded in 2017, they claimed over 10.3% of the total population of Nigeria approximately 22 million individuals use cryptocurrencies. A population that consist of the young and older citizens of the country.

Secondly, the Reuters, through a report also estimated Nigeria's volume of crypto transactions at $56.7 billion between 2022 and 2023 suggesting Nigeria to be the one of the largest in Africa. Whereas, when I compared that with a report by Trading Economics sourced to CBN, Nigeria Government Revenues have amounted to an all time high of 1,837 Billion Naira in the quarter of 2022. When you try to compare the impact of Cryptocurrencies versus that of the public service to the country, you will understand better which to favour or not. Meanwhile, the overall data suggests that Cryptocurrencies are an emerging sector the government must learn to adopt and manage properly.

Omo me I no fit talk how the youths of this country would have been without crypto currencies awareness in this country. Just take a look at how the youths has left the the government and be doing their stuffs. Just like the points wey you have listed, thousands of Nigerian youths now have food to eat, and comfortable homes to live because crypto currencies.

This one na im make our government dey para anyhow, because the poverty agenda they had in mind against us has failed them. Check out how many graduates that are coming out of our higher institution every year but no plans of job and no hope. Sometimes I come dey imagine say, you sure say God no see the future of our Naija youths before him come give Satoshi brain to create bitcoin. And if to say this bitcoin na watin we for pass government hand to collect, my brother we for no see am.
True true, crypto currency has created more jobs than our government.
