The NBA Playoffs is just about here. The final day of the Association’s regular season is April 14. The play-in tournament starts a few days later and then on Saturday, April 20, the 2024 NBA Playoffs tips. Heading into the postseason, as basketball betting fans, we should keep a few things in mind to ensure profit. Check out NBA betting tips to make sure the NBA Playoffs pad our bankrolls.
The NBA Playoffs favor home teams Easy enough, right? Not so easy when a home team offers a -10 to -12 spread against a fellow playoff team. There will be many games this NBA Playoffs where we want to take the points on a road dog.
Although road dogs can cover and sometimes even win outright, the truth is that in most cases, home squads in the NBA postseason have massive edges. Home teams cover and win much more in the NBA than they do in almost any other sport.
Look to put money behind squads with a superstar player The NBA Regular Season is about team cohesiveness. But in the playoffs, it’s all about superstar players. Squads like the Clippers, which boast three superstars in Paul George, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard, have an edge over teams without a true superstar.
Players like LeBron James, Devin Booker, Nikola Jokic, and Jayson Tatum step it up in the playoffs. Giannis Antetokounmpo should have a massive playoff.
Don’t read too much into the NBA Play-in Tournament winners It’s rare that an NBA Play-in Tournament team makes it to either the conference finals or the NBA Finals. The Heat did it a few years back, but Jimmy Butler was unstoppable.
JB and the Heat won’t do it this season because if Miami wins the play-in tournament, they’d have to go through Boston or Milwaukee in the first round, and that won’t happen in 2024.
Look to back top seeds to cover at home The top seeds rise to, well, the top. At home, top seeds often cover. Dejection sets in on the other bench after the Nuggets, as an example, run out to a 20 point first half lead.
There is a caveat to this. Two of the top three current seeds in the West, the T’Wolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, lack playoff experience. So back home teams to cover with experience, or if the team lacks experience, make sure they’re against an opponent that doesn’t match up well.

Home team usually cover a spread of -12 on first round of playoffs except on team place @4th and 5th place because they usually have a close points spread. Only few home teams show an upset result to lower seed team on playoffs on first round because most of the time home team usually amassed a huge score using the home court advantage. During the first round of playoffs, It’s a safe bet to put your money on ML rather than risk on huge spread because it can give you an almost guaranteed profit instead of risking for more gains for an extra risk. I just increase my bet size a little bit to have a better profit on small odds instead of chasing that huge spread to cover.

Alternatively, there are markets for betting on the series winner. That way you can remove the potential risk in case the favored team underperforms in one of the home games because it can always happen. JB and the Heat won’t do it this season because if Miami wins the play-in tournament, they’d have to go through Boston or Milwaukee in the first round, and that won’t happen in 2024.
I wouldn't quickly count the Heat out, they have a good chance to avoid the play-ins and possibly face the Cavs. If they fall to the play-ins, they can probably beat the Bucks in the first round because they've been dropping games against teams they could easily beat.

Sure about that? because last season they were not expected to be in the Finals and boom it happened. Miami Heat is just so unpredictable, so you can't count them out. The same scenario last playoffs, Boston and Bucks both have the home court advantage but Miami Heat upset them. You can talk about other teams but not Miami heat because they have proven this many times in the past, so I think we should respect them even against the top teams in the East.

I was thinking the same, even in the bubble, they were not expected to be in the finals against Lebron James, but they did so we should never under estimate the Miami Heat specially come play off time as Jimmy Butler is a different player come game time. And so even when they are going to face either the Bucks or the Celtics, they will still be very careful of the Heat and not be over confident that they will just run over them as the Heat is built differently. Of course, there are some chances in the lineup as compare to last year, but the core is there + they have Rozier now.

Boston seems to be on a mission.

Boston seems to be on a mission. No wonder boston is only 1.77 now to win a championship, they are the best team in the season now and has been very dominating. I hope they will not choke because that's the only problem they have in the playoffs. Well, with their experience, I hope they learn from it and be more mature in the coming playoffs. Once they beat the heat, then I guess their journey would be easier. In 2023, they are 57-25, no. 2 in the ranking, next to the Bucks. https://www.espn.ph/nba/table/_/season/2023

Miami is slowly climbing the ladder, competition is very close in the East from 2 to 8 spot, so it's not impossible that Miami could finish at 6 and will automatically be in the playoffs. With their win vs the Rockets, their ranking has improve a bit as they already pass the 76ers. They still have 5 games coming, but 2 of the 5 is versus the Raptors which I think they can easily beat. ( they are not the Bucks).. Tough opponents to beat for me are Mavericks, Pacers, and Hawks, but I think they'll beat the Hawks too.

These are some decent tips I have some more that I like to live by:
1) this is my biggest one that I love to bet. Betting on individual player points, rebounds and assists over unders. For superstar players I always bet theor over on points or rebounds whatever theor specialty is. Like sabonis on sacramento. I will jam the over on his rebounds no matter what it is. These players play more minutes in the playoffs and tend to dominate theor strengths. Like lebron might not score a ton in the regular season, in playoffs you can guarantee he isn't passing off a good shot in the fourth quarter.
2) I like this sneaky one too. Live bet the over for the fourth quarter. Lots of action in the fourth and at the end of games teams will foul relentlessly if they are losing to try to catch up.
Either way can't wait until playoffs start next week.
