mining on sha 256 algorithm  with avalon 920 and I wonder if there is a currency other than Bitcoin that would make the device less hot during the mining process Even if it is less profitable

No. The amount of energy used and heat produced is the same no matter what sha256 coin is mined.

No, you can't this unit is created only for sha256 algo coins if you want to mine other coins you can mine them but the energy consumption is the same.

Use this link below and type this "sha-256" under the algorithm it should show all coins that you can mine with that algo.
