In my opinion, the thread should be locked after getting the desired answer. But if the topic is created for debate then it is better not to lock it. Actually, this depends on the type of topic. I see there are some topics that are updated daily so it is preferred not to lock it.

We are all in agreement that after we observe that a topic has gotten its answers the thread should be locked but how do we know that the the starter of the thread is satisfied with the answers? I think one way we can know is if he engages with the post. And if the thread stops being active after a few pages.

An example of a topic that can be left open because it is not bound by time is that trade on El Salvador bitcoin acceptance as a legal tender. Because there would always be new updates on Bitcoin in El Salvador the thread remains active as new information keeps coming in for discussion.

I don't think there's a need again to keep a thread open once there's a satisfactory replies and answers on that particular topic,Then locking the thread would be a good thing to do because the need to keep it open is no longer there, except for the fact if it a thread question or thread that need various solutions on solving its problems in such a way its discussion will need further insights and explanation from expertise, then such thread should be kept open.

One of my observations on the forum is that when a topic is started and the responses are given that answers the questions, you soon notice that subsequent replies are just repetitions of what others have already said but in a different way. Do you think that the topics should still be left open or should be locked. For me, I feel that once the OP is satisfied with the response, it should be locked. I also feel that topics that are time sensitive should be locked to prevent irrelevant contributions. The only time I feel a thread shouldn't be locked is when they have the potential to provide new insights and value to the community members. What do y'all think about locking a thread?
No I don't think so it Should be done. As far as I have noticed is that yes there is repetition to some extent but there is always some value addition that people try to do in the best way they can.

Sometime there is no other option to answer the question in the same way as previously people have responded but in the end we try to add some value so that the reader can get some benefit from our reply as well.

...What do y'all think about locking a thread?
I think that it actually depends on the kind of post created. While some post may convey the need to gain continuous enlightenment and gather public opinion on a subject matter of interest, the duration of satisfactory response is sometimes opened, that even moderators can allow it remain so, until it fades into the library of contents existing on the forum.

There are different kinds of discussions here on the forum. If the thread is something relating to a question of which has been answered already, it can be locked and moderators who notices such usually locks them. A wise op, can consider locking his own thread ones he gets the answer he requires. Also, there are other discussions where ideas keeps coming in and the discussion keeps going on. Those kind are what should be left open.

It would be somehow, to open a board and see so many locked threads just because the moderator feels that there's nothing more to discuss. Except for situations where users are now spamming or causing commotions.
Yes. Threads that have been successfully answered already and OP is now satisfied with the answers given, then he should be responsible to lock his own thread. His question, his own time when he will be satisfied with the varied answers coming in. However, in order to avoid spamming or having more answers that are already going into off-topic, it’s best to lock the thread as soon as answers are already considered the best thoughts and ideas that any reputable member can share.

My question has been answered. Therefore when I make a post and it ends with a question, I'll lock the topic once I get a satisfactory reply. If it is bitcoin news article that requires open debate, it will be opened and left to the discretion of the moderators. To prevent spammers , I'll lock the topic.
Thank you very much
