It is true that Nigeria has hundreds of languages. Choosing one could be judged as tribalism or neglect of others. Making it seem like others are not important or necessary. But there is a truth that having a unified language can strengthen a Nation's identity here in the forum or in other diversified places.

Pidgin is a Lingua Franca and not a Native language but it is expected that the local board should be a place for us to speak our Native language. The question could be is Pidgin our native language? I saw a thread discussing where one member was saying he sees Nigerians speak Pure English and sometimes Pidgin that he is not sure if we have a native language unlike other LB in the forum which is obvious you can see them speak fluently in their native language.

However, cheers to all of us who have managed tp promote unity and national identity without imposing a single language here in the forum, but we shouldn't forget that anyone can infiltrate our local board speaking a pure English, disguising as a member of the LB. Or dont we think so?

Nigeria isn't called a diverse nation for nothing. Currently Nigeria has over 760 ethnic groups which speak a span of over 400 languages with over 269 of them as distinct ones. Although we were colonised by the British, our English speaking isn't as native as most other British colonised countries because the English people didn't stay long enough with us before our independence.

Pidgin has become more adopted overtime by Nigerians as a consolidation of both English and local speaking. This is easy to notice because most pigin words are originated and morphed from English.
There have been numerous threads over time talking about pigin on our local board and the truth is both English and pidgin is totally welcomed here.

Pidgin originated from warri and spread out Nigeria and even the world so fast. Pidgin gives Nigerians a way to put aside their diversity whilst still speaking locally.

If they have something good to communicate to us pertaining Nigeria they are welcome even if we know that they are not from Nigeria or if they are diaspora.

Yes. But there are many countries that have Pidgin English all over the world. The first Pidgin English was originated in China. Our Pidgin is referred to as West African Pidgin English. I read from several sources that it originated from Edo and Delta (the state Warri is located).

I feel like all this while we have been using English in the local board has aswell helped the local board in becoming one among the most growing boards in the forum. We know of some reputable members/merit sources who often visits the forum to help spread merits not only that but they do find post in our local board helpful and also easy to comprehend because of a mix of English and pidgin In the board.

We only can advise ourselves to make use of pidgin in some case to make the board more interesting and look more like what it is called for but yet it is optional, not mandatory but advisable.

There I no need to adopt pigin as our official language on this LB, but you can use it to write if you wish. Nigeria is a multi language nation, but in our nation Assembly they adopted only four languages to be used on the floor such as Hausa ,Yoruba, igbo and English. Yet members still prefer English to communicate. Some people cannot write I pigin they can only read.  So lets forget after language stuff.

we have to face the reality that we can't fake what we're not. Right from the street of Nigeria to the school and all religious centers, what's predominant is iether pidgin, Normal English or the local dialect in that region.whenever we are in a circular environment where mixed people come together, it's never been that we speak our local dialect and that's also what's happening in this local board.

External infiltration isn't really an issue cause we aren't talking a thing that's even secret in the first place. Should it be an issue that someone engages in the local board discussion when he isn't a Nigerian? I doubt there is a rule that kicks against such. As long as we don't have an alternative language that unifies us better than pigin and English and the regular English, they will always remain the official and the most dominant language to be used on the local board.

Nigeria is a country of diverse language, so we cannot unanimously choose a particular language to be spoken here in the LB. our diversity in language difference is what makes us unique. so for the adoption of pidgin English and English language for the local board is a welcome development. If people from other countries want to engage us here in the local board, then so be it, we are open to discuss issues that surrounds us in Nigeria and also in the diaspora.

Also in the future I don't see it causing any problem as you've pointed OP, because even as citizens in Nigeria we don't have a single native language that everyone speaks apart from English language and pidgin, yet we've been living together with mixed tribes in peace and harmony.
