Yeah, what I am actually asking is, since they allegedly don't have keys, how can they open the deposit box in case a judge says so? Do they actually drill the lock and get access to it? Or do they have a key even though they are not supposed to have one? The outcome is the same, I am just curious.
From the LockPickingLawyer video I posted: drilling is easier. My personal take: drilling makes it look as if the lock can't be opened any other way. So drilling makes it look more secure, even though it's not technically necessary.

In the US most banks have it usually works this way.
The vault itself is locked and only certain people have the key / combo / etc to get in.

Inside there there is another door that whoever is managing that day has access to.

Then the boxes themselves need 2 keys. One is yours one in the banks,

And that's it.

Cameras are on 24/7 that are controlled / linked outside the entire bank staff control. Not just the vault but everywhere.

As I said, I use it for things that are going to be difficult to replace. And for part of the seed. By itself it's useless. Much like the title to my car is useless without the car itself.....

Yeah sure, I got your point. Is there a kind of guarantee for the items that are inside the box? Like if someone steals your items is there a fixed amount given to the owner as compensation?

For the most part no. The bank does not provide it, since they have no idea what is in there.

You can get some things covered under your regular homeowners insurance so long as it's listed and noted as to storage location and usually they would want items of real value appraised.

I know a lot of people are like me. It's not to store things that are valuable by themselves, it's to store documents and other things away from your home.
As I said, I have the titles to the vehicles there along with the paperwork that says the loans are paid. I have part of a BTC seed there. I have some other paperwork that would be difficult and time consuming to replace. But nothing of real value by itself.

Try going to a lot of banks (not the finance arm of the car company itself) and getting a 2nd copy of the paperwork that your paid off the loan on your car. It's a miserable task. Have that happen once and then you get really careful about these things.

It's not just the keep it in a fireproof safe at home. It's take it and put it someplace that you know you are not going to be going in and out of and may accidentally take it out or put it someplace or anything else when it's a safe that since it's home you will probably go in and out of more often.

In the last year I have been to the safe deposit box twice. Once to pull out the title of a motorcycle I was selling and then about 3 months later to put the title to the new on in there. That's it.
