I think lack microtransactions is the most defectuous part of the  bitcoin protocol
I wonder  if it is  feasible to  establish  distributed  jar  service. It  would possibly  work  on  top of  bitcoin  in  the  following  way.

Pick random bitcoin address lock private  key  in some  safe  place or  destroy it(tricky part).

Start tip jar service on  top  of  this address

Now anyone could  create  account  in  the specific tip jar, put  some   bitcoin  in  it.Those  bitcoin  will be  converted  to  some  kind  of tipcoin.
Now  Tip  coin  could  be  traded   between  nodes  at  the  same public  ledger fashion  as  bitcoin  is, but nothing  like profitable mining would be  involved.

There  are  some  weaknesses,  who  acctualy  should  have  access to  private  key, or in case of lost private key, tipcoin had  to act  like  bitcoin  in  this place and be traded like other scum  coin on  regular  exchange,
both  solutions  have some kind  of  trust  involved, but most  people will not   bother as long  as service  will  work.

Maybe  you should   look  into a system called Ripple.

It   may  be what   you  are    looking  for.  You can  trade   IOUs   with  other Ripple  users.
