When I search the forum, all the threads listed come from years ago, around 2013 and earlier? Is there a way to show the most recent threads?

In the past few years I've used https://ninjastic.space/search for searching in Bitcointalk. Make sure you hover over the (i) icons for understanding how to search.

Beside 'options', you will see 'message age'. You can input the days old that you want. I have used it in the past and it gave me the what that I expected.
I prefer to make use of Google search engine. I also make use of ninjastic.space.

When you search with this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=searchIn Search order (near the bottom page), choose "Most recent topics first" as it is what you want now. If you want oldest topics, you choose "Oldest topics first".

The forum software version is approximately 18 year old. O don't think you will be able to use the search bar to find most recent thread. What you can do is to check recent post which you will find at the bottom of the homepage. Although, it adds those thread which are getting updated everytime a new reply is made. It does show a new thread being created by someone here.

Above all you can use Google to search the forum on a particular topic by using specific Google search text.

Same problem with Google; most of the search results are from very old topics. Some expert members helped us with tools to make the process as easy as possible (loyce, tryninja), but unfortunately most users don't know about them and not everyone who knows about these tools can use them. It would have been better if the feature worked better on the forum, and let's hope that we won't find these problems in the new version of the forum software.

try---> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced[1] Search using the username and you will get more accurate results, but in general, if you remember the text or are looking for a specific word, ninjastic.space/search is the best. However, if you have a general description of the thread and do not know the words associated with it, Google search is the best. In both cases, forum search does not give accurate results. I searched for "When I search the forum, all the threads" using link [1] and got this thread as a result.

I do a specific keyword search with quotes and prefix it with site:bitcointalk.org. You can check this reply to learn how effectively to use Google or any other search engine to find threads in the forum. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5503125.msg64643312#msg64643312The only downside is that you should know what you want to search in the form of a title or keyword. It takes time if you do not know the right title or the specific keyword.

I believe this is more of how you understand making use of the search engine, on the page over there, you can make us of many features there, also, try to use the pages sequential order, if your starts from the oldest, then reset it to the newest or just browse to the rent page from the list it presented you in other order, another fast and accurate way is in the use of the ninjastic thread for your search, you could explore for more features over this as well.

We have a couple of other data sorting websites extensions for this forum one is ninjastic space and another one is BPIP too. The thing is they are more slightly easier to make use of because they are more integrated in sorting than the regular forum search bar. The thing is all these search and results stuffs are based on key words. Most of those old posts have some many added text and characters and that calls for a wide variety of key words meaning when you hit a search button majority of them will pop up even if they are not actually the exact thing you are looking for.

I could noticed many people have given you a suggestion how to go about searching for your intended information via using either the "AdvanceSearch" feature or the use of "Ninjastic.space". So I will like to ask O.P specifically if have you been able to get the needed information you were looking for? Or do you mind tell in this thread below, while I or other forum members will help you provide you with the link to the information you are looking for.

Yes, of course, whatever you intended to know in this wonderful forum, there are a lot of ways they can show you, which you can also learn from there and get your own knowledge to be able to tell your followers newbies on how they can get there too; and I can see that many of the members here have recommended you some links on where to get the most recent threads easily. The best thing for you to do now is to try as much as possible and take time out of your busy schedule to go through those links that members of this forum suggested to you; it will really help you to discover whatever you want to know concerning the previous thread’s.

Don't expect simple machines forum software to be all that good in terms of a search algorithm.
Results should have been tailored to user preference too. At least that's how google became popular. By having an algorithm to tell trash from websites that actually interest humans they show the most useful results.
To better search Bitcointalk you can go on Google and search for something and then append site:bitcointalk.org to narrow down the results to Bitcointalk only. This is always how I search because the in forum search is very unreliable in my opinion.

It's being quite long I found out that the forum search engine can provide you any shit and what I simply just turned to was the use of Google and it's as easy as ABC, simply just type in what you are thinking about although you might be specific on some case but it virtually narrows down the search when trying to find something.
