Hi!

I recently upgraded my beautiful HD5850 for a brand new Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB. However, I have no idea where to start as far as CGMiner parameter settings go. Does anyone of you have the same GPU and any decent optimal settings?

Thanks!

Hi.

First : Take Sgminer 4.0.0 (It's Cgminer 3.7.2 but with upgrades and only for scrypt mining)

Then just search the forum. There is tons of settings. Take one and start on this to find YOUR optimal settings.

Start here: -I 19 -g 1 -w 512 --thread-concurrency 32765

The 290 and 290X have a max work size of 256. You can set it to 512, but cgminer, sgminer, etc will reduce it to 256. To confirm this, set --debug on and watch the logs.

Also, try -I 20.

If you are using sgminer, you may want to try --xintensity instead of -I. For a 290X, an --xintensity of 373 is roughly equivalent to -I 20. --xintensity 744 is roughly -I 21. The --xintensity flag lets you choose intensities at a finer granularity.  For example, --xintensity of 558 is halfway between -I 20 and -I 21.

For the Sapphire Tri-X 290X, the most important thing is to use the latest Catalyst driver.  As of Feb 9, 2014, that is: amd-catalyst-14.1-betav1.3-linux-x86.x86_64.zip

I tried using the older drivers and had nothing but problems with the miner reporting SICK and DEAD cards for anything other than near-stock engine and memory settings. The 14.1 beta driver seems much better after limiting testing.

Here is an sgminer config to try for Sapphire Tri-X 290X.

--thread-concurrency 27400 --xintensity 512 --gpu-threads 1 --worksize 256 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1040 --gpu-powertune 20 --temp-cutoff 95 --auto-fan

If using cgminer, use -I 20 or -I 21 instead of --xintensity.

These settings give around 960 KH/s for me. Still working on improving it.

r9 290x Sapphier Tri-x

So Now Finally i Found Some Good settings for my 2 sapphire cards. I have been playing around with them for 2 days now

I'm getting about 960 Kh/s Out of them.. I can go To about 1000 kh/s  but then the valid shares go Way down, To about 97%.  At 960 i'm at 99,8 % valid That can be the internet connection to the pool bad

strangely the best settings for my for my 2 cards was exactly the same so others may get the same numbers as me

I use sgminer 4.1  and Catalyst version 13.12

This is the config raw paste

If u want to try for 1000Kh/s  U can increase the intensety to 23. And the gpu-powertune to aboute 20  That’s wher I got it to be stable but the invalid shairs was To hige so im sticking whit 960 kh/s

Iff u feel like it u can donaite som Litecoins Or Anoncoin To me
