Thanks for the warning and explaining about the fake Telegram ID. As we know, Telegram is a safe haven for scammers, so dealing on Telegram with forum users must be verified from the forum profile. I had faced that issue when I had been managing campaigns as well. For that I also changed my forum profile name by requesting theymos.

However, dealing on Telegram, I will prefer to either verify the Telegram user from the forum profile or just deal with forum PM. If there is any financial deal, then it must be done through the forum PM.

I was tricked more than once before finally learned to ignore any request that is related to urgent money/my ex client on Telegram. The last one was somewhere between 0.04 BTC to 0.053 BTC LOL

Obviously kidding, yes anyone can get fooled. If you are careful though and are triple checking @names, previous chat(if wiped big red flag), making them verify on bitcointalk, getting address on here in most cases, you should be fine.

I personally do not send anything via telegram unless i 100% know it's the person I have been chatting with. 99% of the time I am receiving anyways.

I think it will be better to ask for a signed message from a known wallet with such imposter.
To be frank I think the biggest issue here more likely lies with potential or past clients falling for them, with the current reputation of some of the CM, the minimum amount such client may likely lost is going to around thousand of dollars to tens of thousand. I think requesting client to ask for a signed message before transaction would be helpful by the way to limit the chances of imposter ever getting to this point.

This are the reason why most people doesn't like interaction on telegram or having any business deal on telegram, instead forum here could be more better to carry out any financial dealings and even as that, when huge financial request is sent to us we should also asked for a signed message from those whom may tends to impersonate us. Only this way we would notice that person is real or not, and when that is requested they weren't able to sign then we should know it's a bad one for that business.

Please be assured that I won't reach anyone asking for money through telegram. Always cross check with Bitcointalk PM.

This usually gives them away but most people are too hasty to rethink the beggarly attitude before indulging them. Imposters are often in a hurry to ask for money. They just want to quickly get through their business.

The second red flag (maybe it comes first), is getting unsolicited PMs on telegram from unknown sources even when it's not money related. There's a reason telegram administrators put out that warning that they won't be first to send anyone a PM. So, for me anyone sending me a pm raises suspicion.

Members should beware of these acts.

No you're not... Why? You didn't fall the shit for the second time. I want to commend you for being dauntless afterwards, and also for taking out time to make explicit, how much damage this deception can cause even as a victim. I'm sorry for your loss, but you took up the gauntlet

This is an old trick like most of y'all have said already, but this would help reduce the chances of people getting dupped with another person's reputation.
